Looking for instructions on swapping out Pcats for a 3G
I found this page:
https://acurazine.com/forums/3g-tl-performance-parts-modifications-112/e-106-official-pre-cat-delete-how-diy-642953/
Is there a more comprehensive DIY guide to swap out the precats?
The owners manual said that to get to the rear cat, to remove the intermediate shaft which also asked for draining the tranny

its pretty simple if you have the right tools. heres a few tips
remove the fan covers and unplug all the sensors and set aside.
spray the nuts on the precat with royal purple maxfilm or wd40.
remove the bank 1 (rear) middle coil pack and mounting hardware.
unbolt the heatshield 1st by removing the top and lower right side bolts and then lower the cat to the subframe and unbolt the left bottom bolt. mount cat back on cylinder head and remove heat shield.
wiggle out bank 1 pre cat through opening.
pay me ill do it for you ,, $200
are u in so cal?

there is absolutely no need to hassle with removing the heat shields from the rear cat while it's still in the car.
Remove strut bar, remove passenger-side rear coil pack and the hose bracket right above it, and remove APP sensor (big black box on passenger side with 1 bolt holding it on) and just move it with the cable attached to the other side of the car.
With those 4 things out of the way, you can easily pull the entire rear cat out with heat shields on, and without removing the axle or anything else ridiculous that the shop manual tells you to do.
I've done this removal twice on my old '05 TL, twice on my type-s, and on a friend's type-s. It is by far the easiest path to removing the rear precat.
OR if you're uneasy about it just call king-kong dav if he's nearby and pay him to do it
