I'm getting both the TB and IM spacer. Having second thoughts about the IM spacer.

He said he goes 4mm over OEM and since that is 64mm, the final bore comes out to 68mm not taking into consideration the taper that may add a little to it so it will be right around 69mm. The internal ID is 68mm.

Even though it's spec'd as a 64mm unit, mine measured 65mm on the IM side, dead nuts with a caliper, and 68mm after. I guess the TPS wall is what prevents it from being bored any larger.

Trust me Swoosh, I got that...in every thread, even if you are wrong you find a way to prove how you could also potentially be right. You remind me of my last boss, actually...he was never wrong...I was just right sometimes.

Honestly, even if you told me it was 3 grand out the door for a supercharger and/or turbo...I'd still walk away. I'm not interested in throwing that kind of mine into this car. I'll have something I can make super fast later in life. I'll keep the TL as my reliable baby driving car (when I have em!) that nets me 21 to 25mpg.

You're missing the point. I was saying that in every thread you state your opinion and will not back down from it no matter what. Nothing personal, just something I noticed.

1. I hit "find new posts" and I go into any thread that catches my interest, be it the topic or the poster. I don't care where it is. if I didn't venture in to all these different forums etc, I would never get new ideas and eventually end up modding my car. My car would still be pretty close to stock or just maybe lowered on springs if I would have stayed off the forums in general.

2. I got my works for very cheap, even new...otherwise I wouldn't have spent the money on that either. I think about things for a long time before I spend the money on them. A grand, to me, is a lot of money to spend on something.

Just because I'm in a thread, doesn't mean I have to agree that I would do it too. I'm just interested in the outcome or enjoy the banter with certain members (you included ). Remember when you told me you did the full on exhaust from scratch and then told me how much you spent. You were like, "yeah man, do it it's awesome". I didn't think so...I thought you were nuts. LOL...but it's all good.

On another note, maybe I'm full of ish...maybe if I got rich enough to where 10 grand WAS like a grand to me...then I would do the Turbo. I was just making the point that I can't and won't spend that kinda money on going faster and toying with the reliability of a car I already perceive to be pretty fast and that I personally already enjoy driving as it is.

J.

Anyway, sorry to have slightly taken the spotlight off of the topic. I'm still very much interested and subscribed to hear and see all of Andy's updates.

^^^ we can go back and forth and lets not do it....

yeah i have spend a lot on the car in the past few years coz i dont have any responsibilities now and can afford to....when i buy a house in the next few months and planning on having a kid next year i bet the car will take the back burner....

about stating my opinion....i do based on experience with the TL....i have not owned other cars prior to this....and everything i learn/do is on this car....you have had couple cars prior to this to toy with....what might have worked on your Taurus wont necessarily work on the TL ....again i voice my opinion and wait for an assurance on whether its right or wrong....

even in this thread....i voiced my opinion about the turbo kit being 6200 bucks....and installing + custom catback being another 1800....total of 8K....if i make a trip down to Miami, i will have it for less that 6.5K out the door....and this is not my ego talking, this is the conversation i had with Rodney.....and this price is not only for me.....Rodney wants couple more turbo's out there so it gets the name out....publicity....

if am showing off my turbo at the KC national meet....might be a chance another guy or 2 will go for it....once you have your name out then you start making $$$.....

Ams Alpha 9 tuning for the GTR started at 12-15K couple years back....now they start at 25K and go upto 45K....just food for thought....

PS: i love arguing with you as well....even thow your vocab surpasses mine....and i end up losing my arguments with you

Truce.
Your vocabulary is just fine, you misspell stuff here and there, but I'm from South Florida, I'm used to it! I get your point though, for sure. The TL is the first car I TRULY mod...almost all my other cars...I did nothing...I didn't know about it and I was too cheap about it. I lived vicariously through my friend's cars.

and PS, when you DO start your build thread and performance turbo thread...I'll be frequenting that one too!

can you post some pix up or ask him to do it ???

seems like the MDX spacer divided by 3 LOL...i know the MDX spacer was like and inch and half....

if its 1/2 inch then it will clear....i have the MDX spacer + 2 P2R thermal gaskets and i had to pop the hood by ~1/2 inch (didnt wanna cut the hood)....

this should clear without a problem....but yeah am not sure how the gains will look like with this....

Guys, I just took out the fuel pump fuse and the car didn't crank at all. I was expecting it to crank and then sorta die out. I got a check TPMS message on the console. I did remove the correct fuse, 15A #19 in the middle. The TPMS fuse is the first one on that row so no way it's been mixed up.

The painful left runner bolt came out with a wrench of all things and the sears 12mm flex socket ($8) wouldn't work. Now all the bolts and nuts are off but can't get the runner out. The studs are in the way. Damn, sucks to be so close. Any ideas or tricks? I've read you just have to wiggle it out but the rear runners in the way.

hmmm not sure what are you doing but mine came out pretty easily.

I used a wench, pb blaster, deep socket, extension, and wench

for the front side there is actually 5 total. 3 bolts 2 will be near the battery side. Last one on the side near the p/s and those 2 nuts

for the rear runners I used the deep socket and extension. That was the easiest runner to get out.

now to pull them out tap with a little bit to get them off the metal pegs. Then pull straight up and angle it. I don't know how to really discribe this part. The front half facing the front of the car was indeed a bitch. The rear were easiler. Make sure not to brake your knock sensor like I did.

I'm taking the front runners out first, is this correct or should I be removing the rears first? It seems like removing the rears would be difficult without having the fronts first.

When wiggling, the runners come up at an angle and almost make it out but then just stop as they hit the rear runners and can't seem to come out any further. It's about a 1/4" short of getting out.

Studs? I was planning on sending everything to Keith as is.

This. Unbolt both front and rear runners before attempting to remove either. If you unbolt just one set of runners while leaving the other set still tighten, the unbolted one will not have enough room. By unbolting both, this frees-up the required wiggle room.
