^^^ turbulence....
it will happen if you have the MDX spacer....i feel the same way.....the MDX spacer adds some low end torque but you loose high end TQ....its a better idea to take the MDX spacer out if you have everything pnp-ed....
i will be dyno-ing with and without the spacer for some concrete proofs....i might ask Keith to ship me his spacer as well to further confirm how much gains you make when stock and with a spacer in there....

^ I seee. This is also why I don't port the lower runners to match the gasket that goes on the head. There will be a fat ass lip that is 2-4mm thick that will also cause turbulence since not everyone is willing to port the head to make the gasket.

I thought it was the turbulence .. its nothing bad but ive noticed it a couple of times the past few times i went WOT at higher speeds.. i had though putting it 89 octane instead of 87 to help the issue but i dont think the cleaner gas will help unless i use 93 which my engine doesnt require unless im tuned

^^^ i would stick to what your car says....87 or 93.....
on a side note, try running seafoam in your vac port and in your gas tank when its nearly empty

^^^ am married bro....so cant do that no more....hence took the shit out ![rofl](https://acurazine.com/forums/images/smilies/rofl.gif)
btw:
WHO WANTS RACE HEADS FROM KMS ENGINEERING ??? RACE HEAD WILL BE GOOD FOR ~50WHP AND WILL INCLUDE:
Extreme Port Job - 5 angle intake 3 angle exhaust
Glass Bead
Fly Cut Head
Valve Job
Gasket Matched
Valves Lightened
New Radius on Valves
Extreme Reshaping of Valves
Dual Titanium Race Springs
Titanium retainers
Black Nitride Valves
Custom Cam setup so it wont be as lopey
Decked head by flycutting it, you can get increased compression if you will
If interested PM me....
PS: this is not a group buy....i spoke to KMS engineering and they said they can hook us up if I get them couple people.....so i will save $$$ and so will you

def stick with 93octane!!! anything lower and you are probable knocking like crazy!!!! our motors stock have knock from factory!!! espicially the 3.5L. Don't know how much more different the accord 3.5L is tune wise from factory compared to TL-S but TL-S with it's 11:5:1 compression doesnt like anything lower than 93!! I went to Maine and all they had was 91octane and it was not happy about it![ugh](https://acurazine.com/forums/images/smilies/ugh.gif)

Lol oh snap! The 8G Accords are a bit faster than the Type S though stock for stock. Interesting considering the difference in CR.

ok back to the turbulence with the mdx spacer. Do you think that you will have turbulence running an ported/polished intake manifold, taper bored/polished spacer, and stock runners?
Since I already order the mdx spacer im going to use it. So I was thinking that with wanting to get the intake manifold ported and polished, why not also have the mdx spacer ported/polished on the intake manifold side and taper to the stock intake runners. Also would want to have the gasket between the spacer and manifold bored to match the port work.
Do you guys think this will remove some of, maybe all the turbulence ? Im about to start looking for another intake manifold soon. Also when this happens I plan to do the coolant bypass on the TB.

You will gain low/midrange with the spacer but lose top end. As ^ said, Paul has confirmed dyno results.

has anyone ported the mdx spacer before?

swoosh has, I believe he said he get turbulence/ loses power with it installed. He has yet to prove it but plans on dyno with and without the spacer. At least I think he said he pnped it. lol

yes, i have the MDX spacer bored as callahan mentioned.....its 46.xmm in diameter as compared to the stock 44.xmm....
True words !!!
i have been procrastinating the dyno but i know i need to do it with and without the spacer !!!.....
this spacer might come in handy after you do cams work as with the cams you loose low end TQ and gain massive high end and the spacer might counter the low end losses....

Yes but when you do a run, where do you sit the most in gears? Above 5k, close to redline. I'm sure most of these people do these mods to be quicker than other cars that WILL run them on the street. It's a hard choice to make cause you either have a quicker launch & lower gear pull, or more pull once the power evens out.

How often do you run someone? Not 24/7 I hope. How about running someone from a dig as in in a track setting? Think about this when your shifting from red where does the RPM drop to? Tq keeps the acceleration going, HP helps with faster speed as in MPH.
http://www.houseofthud.com/cartech/t...horsepower.htm
also take into account gear ratio. On some car changing the gear ratio makes the car extremely fast.

Yea but you know these people aren't putting these mods in so they can be fast ALL the time. They're doing it specifically for the case in the event that they do run someone. As said before, running from a dig is different and WILL benefit from this.
Now put it this way.
60mph, 3rd gear, starting at 3k -> redline -> shift -> 5.5k.
Isn't that all high end HP?
Not trying to be difficult just proving a point. I thought low end torque would be beneficial too, cause thats where the car is the most sluggish, but in a sense when you do redline pulls it's not often you are in that range. Just the starting gear. You know?

^ but if that the case. Then wouldn't you have more power with the MDX spacer since there is an increase up in 5.5k which help the car pull. Your only losing the top top end power 6.3k to 6.7k?
Not trying to pick a fight but that the way I see it. You shift at red line yes, but the RPM drops and to where there is an increase from the MDX spacer that wasn't there without it. So in theory shouldn't it be faster? Its just like what the J&R ecu did when you swap the vtec cross over to 5k, but then again top end tq and hp kinda sucks. with the MDX spacer you started with Less top end tq then you did without it.
lol. damn decision decision decisions.
