It's $500 cheaper for TLs vs AV6 since the block is already at 89mm and does not have to be replaced unless it is damaged.

5k that's almost what i paid for my Tl i already have the money and i was thinking about it but changed my mind, getting a n-240zx with supra engine on boost,$9000 love the TL but is not definitely a car to be racing.

Block, head castings (ported), valves & springs, oil pan, intake and runners (ported), rear main seal casting, mount castings, spool valve and casting, ect non friction parts, the crank, rods, pistons, rings, bearings, cams, spring retainers(I am now replacing all retainers with Ti ones from KMS for $120), water pump, timing pullys, timing belt, oil pump, all gaskets and seals get replaced. Head bolts are replaced if they are out of spec when pulled.

Ok. I was just trying to see what would be a better route to minimize downtime of a vehicle. Didn't know if I could buy a new block and go from there or if Id need to buy a spare engine. Sorry for all the question just want to get my research done before making my decision. My car has 119k on it so rebuild time will be in the next year. Thanks for the info Paul

Do you strictly use oem head bolts or have you been able to find an alternative out there? Thx

I am just using the KMS retainers or the full SS valve train at this point but may be ordering a 90mm set of pistons soon.

I talked to them about the block gaurds about a year ago and was told they stopped making them. As far as pistons, the RL pistons I used , although forged are not as strong , the forging was done so that thinner material could be used and reduce weight, although they are still stronger than cast OE parts.

so for the j36 would i be better off getting kms pistons if im going boost? and will the kms affect the compression ratio compared to the rl pistons used in the j36 build originally?

Well, you order pistons for what CR you want, but I would be more worried about the rods than pistons.

Actually the cable is gone, it is now directly controlled from a machined stock TB coupled directly to the shaft of the 80mm TB.

cool so did u get the 80mm throttle body working then? im pretty sure u charge 450 or so for the 80mm throttle body + trading in my stock manifold, and tb right? but u said on v6net that this 80mm throttle body will benefit the NA people better so i shouldn't do this, cause im planning on going FI right? plus what should i tune the j36 with since im planning on going boost?

I'm afraid you won't be getting any replies from the members you quoted.

NVA-AV6 was banned and hasn't logged in for over four years, and slippry hasn't logged in since 2009.
