hard to take long trips got kids i need to take care of baseball games and so forth.plus dont like have the kids in the car dealin w the carbon. so i either drive my 04 tsx, or my 02 tl when i got the kids on road trips. 02 tl just has tinted windows. 04 tsx black on black , eibach sportlines, injen cold air, lip kit, bmw m3 lip spoiler on trunk fits perfect, tv s in headrest for the kiddies. anyway so ill just keep tryin to put the miles on the tl so i can show everyone who is intrested what this thing can put down.

You can't just sit back and wait to put the blower on with it running like that. If it's running real rich you'll wash down the cylinders and cause cylinder/ring wear very quickly.

I do agree though that if you're going to boost your car, you need to monitor at bare minimum boost and AF. Then again you could go all out and make this your interior...
Not true, at all.

My local tuning shop, Jotech, has built a 739Hp Scion tC that has performed flawlessly on the track & autocross events.

No, that is pig rich and will destroy cylinders.

Idle 14.7
Light cruise 14-14.7
NA WOT 13.5
FI WOT 12.5

Not true.... If its part throttle driving around the city it could 14.5 : 1 or somewhere in the ballpark +/-. You just need to make sure you keep it around 12:1 or so when your wide open and WATCH the timing!

NVA-AV6 I agree with you
NA WOT - I like 13 to 13.5
FI WOT - 11.8 to 12.3 (some might say thats a little rich but just my experience)

my friend built a TC to 300+ fwhp. sold it because he never gained any traction. like they said, all he got was a whole bunch of spinning, noise, and smoke.

i guess the tires helps with that xP

Depends how you drive/launch your car also. along with tires. but that's not what the thread is about.

a/f discussion is a very interesting read

I completely agree with you guys.

I set my target AF at 12.5 on race gas and not meth.

10.0 when running meth on pump gas but stoich is lower on meth anyway.

Just for fun I've set the target at 15.7 for easy flat ground freeway crusing to see how much mileage I could pull out of it but it then requried premium gas to do so without detonation.

Nice to see people who know what they're talking about on this board.

How much lower is the stoich range on meth anyways? Is meth completely safe or can you blow your pistons running too rich on meth?

Then he was doing something wrong. Jotech's is running on sponsored Nitto tires, but at 700+Hp, it still runs without any spinning unless it's floored.

Going from an old memory, I believe it's around 6.5 on pure methanol. But since we're mixing it with a majority of gasoline, stoich will be much higher than that.

It's very safe. 130 octane so it's very resistant to detonation.

You're no more likely to hurt the engine in the short term running rich on meth than you would on gasoline. However, due to the corrosive nature it's not a bad idea to shorten your oil change interval if you run it rich for a period of time.

For what it's worth I run a very large shot on the GN, around 20% of my WOT fueling comes from meth and I haven't noticed any ill effects.

Are you sure it's a true 700hp? On drag radials and 602rwhp I can't put the pedal to the floor until I'm going 70mph and even then it's a little squirrely. My car is known as one of the best hooking cars in town. Maybe he's on slicks?

You talking about Kenny Tran's shop right? My girlfriend's cousin are best friends with Kenny and told me he would buy and install my supercharger for 5k which, to me, is kinda overpriced. I'm heading to Dallas later on this year so I can see if anything he could do to our cars. And yes his Scion TC was going 700+ HP, but with basically a non-scion motor or whole car was rebuilt from bottom up, two fuel pumps, forged pistons, etc... They spent too much on that car anyways, with the money they spent they could've bought a M3, messed with the ECU, and other stuff and got 600 HP with a better looking car and engine!

For Kenny Tran's TC.

Imma contact him later next week and talk to him about anything he can do with my Acura TL. I just talked to my girlfriend's cousin (which his best friend) and they may take my car as a project and will do everything for free! Well, possibly.

The car is still 90% Scion from what Tony told me. And I highly doubt they care about the cost considering Nitto & a couple other sponsors basically gave them a huge selection of parts to build it.
You can ask Kenny, but I wouldn't be surprised if he can't find anything more for the TL than what's already available.

I think, though, he's more concerned with a GT-R they've been building up on.

Rebuilt Engine. Yeah I dunno Imma see what he can do. I don't mind paying either (if reasonable), but I gotta make sure it will work. But I got some performance shops in Houston that say they can get this turbo going for our cars.

Regardless if you can somehow find tires sticky enough to hold that much power down on FWD, the driving characteristics just aren't as good.
