improving low end torque

I would like to improve the low end torque for more zip off the line. I know a supercharger would do it. But is there a less expensive way?

Lighter wheels than stock, underdrive pulley, and weight reduction.

The best way would be to swap in a RL 3.5L short-block and keep your stock heads & valve-train. This should give better low-end than a stock RL because of the 3.2L's short duration cams. And as long as the deck height is the same for the 3.2L & 3.5L, it will be an easy bolt-on affair with all your stock components. It might even cost less than the supercharger if you can do that kinda work yourself. Plus you will still have room for a supercharger later on.

You are gonna have to figure out how to tune the car though. I think Hondata has the stock ECU cracked, but they have yet to release anything. The waiting continues...

I believe Team Honda Research used a Comptech flywheel for the CL Type-S on their 04 TL race-car. I don't know if they had to modify it or not to fit...

I agree. This is the only way to truly increase low end.

If, for whatever reason I ever have the trans out, it will go back in with a higher stall convertor. Should make a huge difference off the line.

I don't know if you meant what you said but to the OP if you do get a pulley make sure you do get a UR pulley. They are the only company that offers a pulley for the TL and they CNC machine them to 0 gram balance.

PM me if you need one.

The crank pulley bolt is hard to remove b/c it is on there so tight. Some ppl use different methods that I personally wouldn't use b/c I have the right tools to do the job, but it works for them. It should take 1-2 hours to do the job.

And spray it at 2K rpm. That will give you some serious low end right before you run over the crank. There's a little sarcasm in there but seriously, this is the first car I've owned that would probably get slower with drag radials.

Speaking of nitrous, since the turbo/supercharger route is pretty much nonexistant for these cars, anyone ever spray one? Although it's not my favorite route, you don't have to worry about the lack of tuning available with our ECMs. I wouldn't mind spraying a 100 shot a couple times just to shut up my friend that just bought an IS350.

Pro-Cats..... 21hp/18tq gain.... >$1200 i believe

the UR pulley is a great buy for 200... but dont really expect dyno proven gains...

Don't think that's going to help the anemic low end. Exhausts and intakes make most of their improvements in the upper rpm range.

The rotating assembly is all forged from what i understand. If this is true, you could prob. easily use a 100 shot.

Hose it, whoop some a** and then take it off for no one to know

I sprayed the Buick when I had a huge turbo/stock motor and tapped into the schrader valve on the fuel rail. Surely the TL has a test port? I literally have the old NOS fogger kit sitting in the garage from like 10 years ago. I can't believe I'm actually considering this... Don't know if I want to run an old kit like this since it doesn't have a window switch. In my old age I might forget it's armed and spray it off the line on accident.

Smaller diameter tires, or a change to the final drive ratio.
Anyone know if a change to the final drive ratio is even possible?

Anything is "possible". How easy it is all depends on weather or not the aftermarket is supporting your car or not. Beyond that it's a matter of finding OEM parts from similar gearboxes that will fit, or can be modified to fit, your transmission...

I believe there was a final drive change in 2006 for the Automatic TL. I can't remember if it's longer or shorter though. I don't know about the manual gearbox. Perhaps the Type-S has a special FD ratio...

Hopefully you've seen the below post, and even if this is not possible, its so very easy to get fuel it isnt funny. My other car has 2 -6 AN feed lines, and two separate fuel pumps, and somehow even after all that, i could return the car to stock, and no one would be the wiser.

Its not that difficult to have some of these little things made, not to mention there is a fuel filter, and SOME of the hose has to be flexible

take care
Mark
