Engaged the VTEC today!!!

The '16 Advanced has 1K miles on it now. For the first time, I put it into warp drive and the VTEC did its thing. Zoom, zoom. Yea-Haw!!!!!!!!!!

Out the way....

I really like this motor and trans. I'm coming to the RDX from a Ridgeline -- which had the same (mechanically) motor. Honda has come a long way in the last ten years (the age of my Ridgeline). The new engine definitely has more grunt in the low end, it pulls in a high gear, where the Ridgeline would have shifted down. The engine balance is much smoother than my old car. The transmission is a very well thought out piece of engineering. I wish it had another gear on top of Six, but it works great at all speeds up to about eighty MPH.

The "heart" of any vehicle is its motor. This car has one of the best hearts I've experienced in fifty years of driving.

Out the way....

Same thing here, I love the way the car drives.
It feels light and agile, and generously pours horse power as needed.

iVtec. Has there been any other Honda since the S2000 with straight up VTEC?

I think the old V-6 engines like the 04-13 TL or 07-13 MDX only had vtec. All the I4 Acura's like the TSX and RDX during the same model years had i-Vtec. Acura now converted all I4 and V6 engines to iVtec.

The RDX is pretty quick and nimble. I wanna run it against my 14 TL SH and see if it can hang. Granted my TL is built and handles like a dream on my BC's. The tranny is a lot smoother but shifts quick too.
