something is up with that dyno.. when you first put the ECU you felt a differnce.. yet the dyno is giving numbers worse than a non-mod AT TL... did you speak to others who did that dyno? anyone who dynoed at otehrs places and agreed that the #s are correct on their car?
I do agree with your statement of getting it tuned, and I will also take some of the blame in misleading on the ECU since I thought it could be a pug and play and championed it as such from reading on the MS3 website and other sites

Swoosh, when exactly should I expect my refund from Rodney? And you said he's having trouble with Paypal...could he just use another account to transfer my refund back to my account? Thanks again man!

Sharky: 4th gear is way off for the 5AT, definitely should have been 3rd. Also, you dyno'd on a Dyno Dynamics; they are the lowest reading dyno, most even lower than the infamous Mustang dyno. You can calibrate them to read DynoJet numbers as well, but that all depends on the shop. I wouldn't be surprised if most of the numbers were somewhat low on that day.
404whp for the turbo G35 may be low, but we don't know what turbo/supporting mods, so it's really impossible to say otherwise. One positive here: look at your torque curve, it's flat as fcuk. That's what you want. I'd have to guess the ECU was pulling timing, however keeping the AFR where it needs to be. Get it tuned professionally and see the results. PLEASE do a few baseline pulls without the ECU, then after the tune. I think that would put your fears to rest.
This ECU will perform once tuned right, don't let the missed deadlines and difficulty refunding money fool you (although hard, I know).
Guys, don't get mad at Swoosh. He is not the culprit here. Regardless of what he said or didn't say, he was only relaying what Rodney told him to because he was too busy to post himself. Swoosh did a great job being the messenger and I'm sure spent countless hours talking with Rodney to help you guys. He even postponed receiving his own ECU for someone (whoever that may be, I don't know nor does it matter). Anil, great job being the messenger.
Since you've spoken to Rodney so much, I think it's time for him to post here. I, along with I'm sure many others, want to hear what he has to say about this. He was posting pretty often with updates and numbers when testing the ECU, showing it worked great. Now there are issues and 'severely missed' deadlines, etc, and he hasn't posted in quite some time. He's not helping himself right now....

We calibrate RPM for specific gears so the dyno reading for the TL was correct. If this was a dyno jet the reading would have been different from gear to gear (because it is read by inertia.) Our dyno reads by resistance put on the roller. You would be 100% correct about 1-1 being in 3rd gear if we were using a Dyno jet system.

^^^ Thanks Sonnick....means a lot....
After what Hi Speed said about missing deadlines and stuff, I asked Rodney to post with his actions and not words....I told him the best way to post is just mail everything out and let the members post "hey i got the ECU and its running great....yada yada".....and he listened to me....
In the past week he mailed out 3 ECU's and Alex's stuff (without the ECU)....this week another 3 ECU's will go out....he found (with KN's help) a place for some harnesses and also Josh (XLR8) found/got 1-2 harnesses....so this week he will be sending out another 3 ECU's....
His words to me were: "in the next 2 weeks, you will receive posts from the members about them receiving their stuff....am sending out something everyday"
i know this has been hard on all of us....from time delay to harness out of stock to waiting on the damn ECU....but as Sonnick posted, the fruits of the labor will be nice....
Everyone on here knows Rodneys contact details and they can call him directly as well if they intend to get an update directly from him....at times he gives me updates which i post and at times KN posts the updates....i think another couple weeks and we will all have all our stuff....

went to a car meet yesterday, they had a dyno available...so i took the opportunity to see what a $1400 ECU would do for me.
one of the main reasons why i made the 2 hour drive was to dyno my car. it's a 07 TL-S fully bolted...(aemV2, UR pulley, v3 pcds, v3 jpipe, xlr8 quad exhaust, JnR ECU)...and i was hoping to be somewhere close to 300whp.
after the dyno, final numbers were 186.3 whp and 156.4 torque. i expected 100 more whp, so...either the JnR ECU is jacked up, and/or their dyno was WAY off base. i don't know what to think. but i am disappointed to say the least...and i'm searching for answers. plenty of other cars dyno'd that day and put down great numbers. like a turbo g35 put down 404whp...so how the hell do i put down what a base AT TL with NO modifications puts down stock? makes no sense...and i'm thinking the JnR ECU is to blame. i wish i would have did a run or 2 with it unplugged, but we ran out of time. i think the base map i was supplied with is nowhere near where it should be for my car. my suggestion, anyone running the JnR ECU...get it professionaly tuned for YOUR CAR. don't just plug in and go. get it tuned safely. i have unplugged mine for the time being until i get my AFR guage mounted/knock monitor hooked up and then i'm going to get it tuned at a shop. i'm done with this BS. the tuner behind the wheel said my car was pulling A LOT of timing and he is pretty sure he heard knock during the high RPM wot runs. <-that has JnR written all over it. i am starting to regret my purchase...and feel as tho i was mislead during the group buy. i hope to put my mind at ease after i get everything tuned responsibly. but for now, i'm pissed i wasted $50 and got bunk numbers.
i'd like to see what my car would do without the JnR ECU hooked up.
i am waiting for the videos to upload to YouTube and then i'll post them. shit is taking forever this morning.

Gains should be measured as a delta of the original and not some number you think it should achieve. Especially in your case where gains won't be monstrous in numbers.

^yeah i would have liked to but they rushed me off the ramp right after it was done. they were pretty unorganized at the meet. i had to literally beg for my car to get dyno'd in the first place. they had a hard time letting me PAY THEM to do their job. it was ridiculous.
my first words after the crappy numbers "well can i unhook the MS3 and see what it runs?"
tuner : "sorry man, there are a lot of other cars we have to dyno still."

i dont know what the gear ratios for AT but its suppose to be as close to 1:1 without going under. i know for MT, theratio is closer in 5th gear than 4 gear but it goes under... iirc 1:.95 and 1:1.08... Something like that.

no it was $50 for 3-4 runs w/ AFR.

^i agree. i feel as tho if someone knew more about the TL's gears/which one made most power...i would have had a better experience yesterday.
oh well, there is always next time.
oh and they refused to refund my money when i brought it up today.
ahhh...so you dyno my car incorrectly and keep my money? gotcha.

You will have to ask "Joey tl" what he meant by the question although.

I would have expected better out of Inaccurate....oh well.
Don't understand why these people who don't own or even plan to own this thing seem to feel the need to comment. I guess people are bored. 38 pages of which 35 is garbage.
PM me if you want some help. I'm going to limit my responses here.

Aren't we old enough to not have to measure our e-penii? I mean if that's what you want to do then cool. Let's do it. I've personally tuned many cars on several platforms in the past.
This is an open forum. You should be used to a thread containing 5 percent true, valid information. Good Lord, go start a thread like this on Honda-tech and see where it gets you.
The point is, who gives a shit if a person owns, or as you so eloquently assumed, intends to own, a product if all said person is trying to do is help. Instead, one of the people who is said be the local guru is running for the hills. I think it's humorous.

I know this is directed squarely at me. What's your problem man? I don't give a shit how much you've messed with tuner studio or ms3, or how old you are, or how much you've time and money you dumped into your TL. That goes no were real fast when all people want is help.

Flatter myself? Your arrogance is repulsive. Especially for your age.
Who on earth could you be referring to?
Sonnick? Correct in everything he said today. Which coincidentally was helpful.
FCVadi? Correct and helpful.
Tim? Correct and pointed out the obvious need for more info in the posed question.
Opel? Really?
Everyone else in the last two entire pages owns or is waiting on the ECU, other then me, correct? Kinda narrows it down. I looked this up before I put myself out there.
Nothing that you have done or will do to your TL puts you in some special clique. Quit acting like it does.

He was talking about Innac... its clearly stated a few post above...
Like it was stated by all who understood it before buying, this was never a plug and play, run your car thing.. its a plug and play then tune. I for 1 know nothing of MS3 but that's because I don't have 1 yet. But I did know what I got myself into with the tuning required even if I didn't have a s/c... and it was definitely stated and tried to be expressed correctly for all others. Kurt (KN_TL) and Anil(swoosh) went at it many of times on this thread over this and each and every time, all that understand it stood behind KN even though Swoosh was "promoting" it as a PnP unit cuz thats what was told to him and he believed. I am tired of stating how this unit SHOULD'VE been sold and that's as a blank PnP ECU which would require a professional tune..
Thanks KN for all the information we've gathered. Thanks Swoosh for basically handling everything. And thanks Rodney for making this available for us... but now I need my shit lol.
Also thanks to all who entertained this thread as it made for many laughs for me. Ie LIBERT. Lol.

there are 10+ people who have received their MS3, just want some feed back on how they are enjoying it/solving issues if any.
I'm happy with my MS3. I have some bug i want to fix. I received a new MSQ from Rodney and it didnt fix any of my bugs.
I did tune it from a reputable tuner and it still needs work. I wish I have more resources here in Canada. But I'm doing my best with the help of other here who have the MS3.
