Which exhaust system/setup should I get?

Hey guys Im a new member and I have a 2008 base TL. I don't know that much about exhaust systems but so far I have been considering getting a catback off endlessrpm- https://www.endlessrpm.com/endlessrp...ct-description
I see that there is an option to add something called a J-pipe and a test pipe with heat shield tabs, could someone please explain what each of those do/add.
Are there any other exhaust sysytems that would be great for my base TL? If you suggest a system please say what I should get with it and etc.
All replies are apreciated!

yo!!!!!

while there are many different catback exhaust, they all do the same thing. Do not stress over which one to get....
it seems as if you have chosen, Endless RPM's exhaust. Good job!

now; on the stock car there is a pipe that connects the two primary catalytic converters...this pipe looks like a J! thus why we call it a Jpipe...
the stock jpipe has a cat on it. the stock jpipe has horrible crush bends in it. we replace the stock jpipe with an aftermarket jpipe that is mandrel bent for BETTER air flow.

Great, thanks so much. Now that I understand that concept, what's the benefeit of including a "test pipe" nevertheless a test pipe with heat shields?

the stock jpipe has a third cat attached...
you can keep the stock jpipe but remove the third cat by replacing it with the "test pipe".
the heat shield does what its name implies, shields heat!

keeping the stock jpipe and adding the test pipe will only yield like 3 horsepower.
it would be better to upgrade the jpipe with one that removes the third cat...so you have a jpipe with better bends and no cat! yields about 15hp

Is there an aftermarket J-Pipe which keeps the third cat intact?

Yeah, my TL To-Do list looks like this:
  • New axles
  • New clutch
  • New rear wheel bearings
  • New tires (or maybe a new set of wheels and new tires)
  • ...further down the list...
  • New motor mounts
  • ...further down the list...
  • New control arms
  • ...and way further down the list...
  • New J-Pipe.
Long story short, I get the whole fundage issue.

at times, i think my car is rather loud and i've been leaning on replacing the RV6 with the ATLP with cat so the car can be hushed, while retaining power.

but shit aint free!

I guess i could sell my busted up RV6 to help offset the cost
