Hey guys so, there was this totaled TL Type S I found at this dealer... It got rear ended really bad and body damage was too much to repair, the engine is still ok. The engine got about 38k miles on it... I got a 04 TL and was wondering if I got the engine, can I do a engine swap on it or no? It is also a 5AT like my 04 so transmission shouldnt be a problem... any idea or suggestions?

 

should fit right in, get the ecu and all. and get the brakes and hubs and sell them to me for $5. haha

 

bring the car home and part it out, I know tons of people will want the Type-S interior pieces, navi system, HFL parts, air-bags, suspension, etc.

The motor swap will be kinda tough, the TL-S has a different transmission, so I doubt the 04 will bolt up, and even if it did, the TL-S had a reinforced transmission, so the 04 one might die pretty quickly. Engine - bay wise, it will fit, but you will need to move the fuse box up like in the TL-S. Make sure to transfer the new ECU too.

 

Anyone know if lookinco was running a J35A8 in his or an Odyssey motor?

 

Lookinco was running the old 04-06 MDX 3.5 J35 with CL-S pistons and RL shortblock... somthing along those lines....

 

while you are at it get the innovative mounts

you should be able to run the factory 04 harness with the new motor, as for the ecu it would require a custom made pnp harness

also don't know if you would like to keep the paddle shifters and such...

LOL! they want 12k for the totaled car.... and the engine alone they want $5k and if i take mounts and ecu they are charging me $7k.... I asked for fog lights for one of the member here and they are askeing $500...

So ummmm..... maybe its to expensive...

no they took the car to their junk yard or whatever and i guess going to do something with it, so yep thats it....
