My car has UR Underdrive Crank pulley, AEM CAI, ATLP CAT back, and P2R throttle body spacer. 5 AT..
So I go to LA performance or something and they have a dyno jet. After they set it up the guy tells me to do a 4th gear 2.5 rpm launch I do that and i get whopping 170 hp...
I do it again but I do it at 3rd gear 2.5 and I get 235 then 237 then 222.. and my torque is like 192, 192, 199, 202.
Wtf is this... A Mr2 comes in with a supercharger and exhaust and says he got 160 something WHP at another dynojet and that is with 10 psi.. He upgraded to 14 and the dynojet gave him like 166 168 and 170.....
Wtf is up with this... I am really disappointed, I for one thought I would get like 250 or 260 like Blackura..

If you have a base TL, those #'s aren't that far off. If you have a Type-S 3G, then something is definitely wrong. Whether it's the dyno or your car, we have no way of knowing. You can start to find out by asking the place you dyno'd at when the last time they had their machine calibrated was. It won't help too much if you go somewhere else to get any dyno pulls, because all dyno's are going to give you different #'s. I know how you must feel. It must suck, but your best bet is to go back to the same place, provided that they have recently recalibrated their dyno.
^^^Just to add...I dyno'd around 252whp @ Jackson Racing with a CAI and Stage 3. I got over 260whp with the ATLP exhaust, along with the previously mentioned mods.
Im just mad, cuss i know my car isn't this slow.. I mean can a Tl-s with 237 WHP take a dodge charge R/t When it didnt have the p2r and the Underdrive.... I unno, Ya i can ask them, but they didn't know a lot about on what gear to the start the car and all that.. I unno
exactly.. I unno wtf is up... The guy is like well... not all cars are the same.. Im like wtf are you saying.. Its normal for a car to have 30 whp difference between it and another exactly the same tuned car? They were like well 220 aint bad.. im like ya... it is and my torque is just wack

Is your car an 08 Tl-S? If so, then the power is kinda low. For a 5AT with a 3.2L, those numbers don't look that bad. Mine is an 05 M6 with a CAI and it made 232 WHP and 214 TQ.
If the shop had you drive the car on the dyno, I'd strongly recommend NEVER going there again. You should have a tech that KNOWS how to drive a car on the dyno, especially for an automatic. For a M6, its as simple as getting to a low speed in 4th and flooring it. In the 5AT, you have to make sure you can get a low enough rpm reading without it dropping to 2nd gear.
As far as racing a Charger R/T, yeah, it has more power, but it also carries a lot more weight. It over 4100 lbs and is a turd in the 1/4 for a 340HP car. It runs about 100 in the traps, so it's VERY close to the TL performance wise. Auto v. auto could be hit or miss.

That's why I always say...
1) A dyno is only as good as the operator
2) A dyno is only as good as the equipment
3) With a good dyno, and a good operator, i can make a dyno put down any numbers you want.
I don't believe dyno's... I believe in 1/4 and lap times.

this goes to show that when I posted my dyno numbers... 248.1hp... everyone was like oh that is kinda low... this and the third... the tl is not ment to be put on a dyno...
get yourself a gtech pro ss and set it to dragstrip mode... it has the track lights and everything... it will measure your reaction time, 0-60mph and so much more... I just got mine, I am trying to get under 14seconds with my auto which I know I can do
ps. 235hp/200lbs tq IS NOT A BAD NUMBER... it maybe that their machine is out of wack or what not.. but those seem like accurate numbers since another aziner pulled similar numbers in a WDP TYPE S this past sunday
lastly... you should've gotten air fuel ratio to see if that was your problem
ps (squared)... I think my dyno was with the vsa on? UH OH... lmfao

i know a good place you can take it to that has a dynojet. those numbers do seem a little low for your mods. someone mention church auto, but unless your running some type of fuel management and need tuning, no need to go there. they run a dynopack and will give you hp to the hubs only.
i take it your going to fontana (california speedway) on the 8th. ill see you there

if your comparing it to a twin roller dyno dynamics than yes, it will read higher numbers, BUT out of all the dyno types, a dynojet will give you the closest to true whp than the rest.

i just googled it for you. from downtown san diego to fontana is 109 miles, not bad. so i say about an hour and 15 minutes or so. if you plan on racing, you should get there no later than 630am. if your not, then 9am is when the races start
Since I'm about 50 miles north of downtown, it shouldn't be a long drive at all! I might show up, I kind of want to see what my TL will do in the 1/4.
Thanks for the info 04accordcpe.

dynos are soo subjective, different types of dynos measure hp differently, sea level, temps, humidity, all factors that can change numbers...you can dyno a car on the same dyno, two different days and get two completely different numbers...
Thanks kennedy, if more people would use a dyno for all that there worth instead of comparing dyno results with others with the same mods LOL people wouldnt be crying about there numbers.
