These three holes are what the S/C port and polishing houses ignore when doing a job. I feel for efficiency and HP, closing and smooth in these holes will increase throttle response, flow, and keep the S/C cooler due to decreased air turbulance.

I scored a deal with my local welder guy Dustin. $60 to weld the three aluminum pieces I will shape to fit those holes.

Good deal?

I didn’t take Zetas advice early on in my automotive learning and over torqued one camshaft cover bolt and two intake manifold T/B bolts.

Listen to him! He’s not my Father, but my Father has always said in questioning his advise, “have I ever given you bad advise?”. This is always the the time to listen.

Saving4aTL, just an FYI, you may not need to pull the front head to rectify the stripped camshaft cover bolt hole(s) if you use a M8X1.25 Helicoil. I have to do both of my camshaft cover bolt holes, on the front head, the next time I perform a timing belt replacement. They both eventually became stripped, over the years, from repeated removal and install for various reasons of the S/C'er unit.

I bought and am going to employ the Helicoil M8X1.25 kit (Helicoil 5403-8) on the link below. Check it out:

https://www.ebay.com/itm/HELI-COIL-5...5.c10#viTabs_0

I still need to buy a right-angle drill and I will need to remove the water jacket to get enough room for a straight shot at the front bolt hole, IIRC'ly, because the bolt stud of the EGR valve is in the way.

Though, in your case, the stripped IM bolt holes may be easier to practice on, should you decide to accept this mission.

Hey that’s a good idea! I read someone suggesting this here many years ago, but hadn’t looked into it. I think this would be a good way to restore the threads!

Thank you Zeta!

If you have not already researched the helicoil method, here are a couple of good video's to give inspiration:

Soviet tomatoes planted. Grass clippings to keep them cool from the sun.

Almost finished with the raised beds

Redesigned the beds to be bigger and allow a small courtyard for growing grapes overhead. Like my Father and his Father.

Gramps(Moms side) came by today to bring tomato starts! Next will be cucumbers in a month or so. I know this isn’t cars, but I planned to install the Type-S6 coils on to the TL-B5 today and decided to do all I could on the garden beds today.

lol, Saving4aTL, seeing your 'raised garden' efforts above reminded me of an interesting article, I read recently, on the "Humble...Russian Dacha".

https://www.themoscowtimes.com/2020/...navirus-a70079

Just curious, besides being 'non-gmo', does the continuous 58 year old generational breeding line of the tomatoes add to their succulent(ness) ?

They do have a strong and sweet tomato flavor. Not hard, flavorless, waxy ones we usually at a typical grocery store.

though, I am not sure if this genetics, nurture, or the effects of continued lineage.

I am planning to buy land in the countryside and build a home there as my next house, and rent this one.

For now though, my main home is my Dacha.

Im on call all weekend, and since we are
reopening elective surgery, I’ll be there the entire time to play catch up.

Took a rare opportunity to get off work two hours early to install the 90k miles Type-S coils onto the 174k mile base model TL.

I began removing the back seats to access the tops of the rear coils at 1:36pm.

I started the car to warm up for a drive at 4:21pm.

Found another M90 3G S/C for my build. Guy on EBay wanted $100, but took $90. It’s in great shape. I will take the best of both M90s to build the Poor Man’s M90!

My neighbor reminded me that He is a professional TIG welder, and offered to pug the unnecessary holes on and port the M90 this Monday!

I found that the M90 has 4 unnecessary holes instead of three. I’m hoping he could reach the fourth one deep in the S/C!

Dropped off the partially ported 1st M90 S/C at a small job aluminum welder in town to get three of the unnecessary holes welded flush. He said it will take about a week. Cost $100

My next door neighbor will TIG weld all four holes and port it for free and have it back to me on Monday. Great neighbor.

Lol it’s a Filipino dish! Chicken curry with a tad of turmeric. Wife brought it out as I was finishing cleaning the charger for Monday.

The charger will stick out of the hood two inches more than any M90 J-Series engine. And guesses why?

Got a new clock!

Roots TL needs new upper tranny mount. I broke the knock sensor when removing my runners and used the one from the Type-S. So had to replace the Type-S sensor.

Air-to-Water heat exchanger came in!

Plumbing for the Roots Supercharger’s cooling system. A couple gates 90 degree elbows to eliminate kinking. When I was a plumber, I learned, “the less fittings, the less chance for leaks.”

Using distilled water due to heat.

Even comes with an underbelly!

Magnuson MP90! Mo Powa Babeh!

Aftermarket billet aluminum rotors installed!

Less than 30k miles on this beautiful blower!

Last Comptech snout still sealed in the bag going onto this only Comptech MP90 blower.

This will fit under the hood like a stock blower!

Thanks man it’s getting there!

Still need new rod/main bearings, as well as
blockguards from Halferland performance.

The J35A8 block will hold 700whp without them, but for long spirited drives and circuit tracking, it’s peace of mind.

Here is the only other MP90 I’ve seen customized for the 3G TL. This one is Chitos. It doesn’t yet have the brackets made but is in the final stages of workability.

Check out the similarity in the chargers!

On the chopping block!

My neighbor generously offered to port the PoorMan’s M90 as well as shape and weld aluminum in the excess OEM holes. I had a shop weld the holes on my other PoorMans M90, and it won’t look the same as y neighbors work, guaranteed.

Playing Gran Turismo 6 on PS3, preparing for tracking the TL. The 03’ CL Type-S was the only car that resembled the TL in its physical performance.

I had one of the Bosses removed to give the charger a more streamlined look.

I may have more bosses removed in the future.

The bolt hole at the top was also filed down.

Needs a lot of smoothing out for better air flow.

Halferland Performance block guards.

ARP headstuds from Halferland Performance. Halferland, the guy that will tell you the up and downsides of all his products up front even before you buy. He is designing his own Rotrex kit that will be easier to install and won’t have Any heat build up like the extreme cases from Gerzy bear kits. Because of the location of HalferLand’s Rotrex Kit, you also won’t be running a hole into your radiator like with Gerzy bear kits.

This is what the Halferland block guards will look like after installation.

ZZPerformance 3.4” pulley and supercharger oil

I order two 12 foot OEM Acura feather flags with poles to rep on my canopy hut at the tracks.

The offset pulleys are the ones that fit the Poor man’s M90 S/C.

Aged and weathered poor man’s M90 in need of polishing.

Ceramic coated and then spray painted silver just won’t do as the 3g TL centerpiece hood ornament!

I taped every entrance to the the bearings that I could. This way water does not get in and rust them.

Fresh S/C bearing lube on the rotors

New ZZP torque transfer is ring. The other two M90 rings were good, but this was a good price!

I bought a Pranks adaptor kit. Here is the Intake manifold block off plate. There are three random holes that need to be TIG welder to fix their error.

This TB to M90 adaptor plate is for a DBC 99-03 Type-S design. Though even with a Drive by Cable Throttle Body, the adaptor plate still won’t fit the triangular M90 inlet port. Wrong again.

This Pranks adaptor plate is cut outside of the edge of the M90 Gen. 3 S/C. Though this plate won’t fit a 04-08 TL engine, it is still cut wrong. If I would make this plate fit, I would be leaking all my boost into the atmosphere.

I don’t understand why they cut the bypass circle 3/5 of the correct size. This adds more weight to the top of the engine as well as lessen the efficiency.
