Verizon Treo 700p works in TL
I also posted this in the long sticky thread in this forum for posterity's sake....but thought it merited its own post for us Verizon users.
I received my Verizon 700p yesterday. I paired it with my TL on the first try.
It FINALLY shows a signal bar and signal strength, but no battery strength. That's OK....
The BT connection with HFL is more stable, too--it is far less likely to crash the phone like on my 650. Further, I don't get a high-pitched whine and a long delay to start the phone call like with the 650.I note that the Phone application was version 1.0 on the T650 (WTF? The same version as on the 600?) and 2.5 on the 700p, I wonder whether that and the slightly more advanced BT version (1.2 for the T700p) help?
In any case, all is well and I'll update about crashes over the next few weeks.

I have a Cingular 650 and have no problems connecting to the BT. If anything, the phone interference is present if I do have it too close to the center console. Hence, I usually dump my phone on the center console when driving.

Preferences -> Handsfree -> Autoanswer -> Disable
I made this mistake with the 650 and this was the answer.
In addition, I have found that when initiating a call with the phone in the car, HFL doesn't pick up. This was also a problem with the 650. I have to manually transfer by saying "transfer". A minor annoyance.

neuronbob, I tried what you suggested and my autoanswer was already set to disable. Any other suggestions?
Also, I get signal strength on dash but also roam signal (RM) much of the time. Any ideas on any fixes?
Thanks.

HFL working again
I spoke with Verizon. They told me to delete the profile in the Bluetooth device setup for Hands-Free Link. I did that and re-established the pairing. No luck. I did a soft reset to see if this helped AND IT DID.
HFL is now working beautifully again. If HFL quits again, I'll soft reset again and hopefully it will fix the problem.

I have a 700p with Sprint, and while I see the signal strength in my display, I don't think it's changing at all (or not often at least). In my driveway, my phone shows 1 bar, and when I start the car, the display shows the same. On my drive to work, I am usually at full strength all the way, but my display still shows the 1 bar!
If I make or receive a call however, it will update the display to show the current reception strength.
I tried setting my Treo bluetooth to visible (usually have it on hidden) and it didn't seem to make a difference.
Anyone else experience something similar?

Cool trick - quicker pairing
Today I discovered the option "Enable device name cache" in the bluetooth screen of my new 700p -- i'm not sure if this has been mentioned before, but when this is Checked, the tl recognizes my phone the SECOND i get in (as opposed to taking 8-10 seconds for the phone icon to pop up). PRetty cool
700p Verizon with TL
Any updates to this? I have three other phones that work flawlessly with my 2004 TL, but the 700p does not work at all. Finds the phone, but will not call or answer. I've checked all the settings (owned Palm since the very first one years ago) so I know my setup is right. Called Palm/Verizon and they just keep blaming each other.
Something is definately wrong with the 700p. I even tried someone else's 700p and it didn't work either.
Maybe someone here has a better suggestion?
Thanks!

No offense taken. But I have owned about every version of a Palm Pilot/Treo so I know the settings very well. I also have spent a few hours with both Verizon and Palm on the phone trying to get help and no luck. Trust me, after an hour of hearing them say 'it must be your car' I just want to scream. I have three other phones from different manufactures that work perfect. Just not the 700p.
Other Treo boards seem to have the same problem as me. Just was hoping someone here may have heard of a new update or something different.
Help!

I say keep trying 'cause it took me 4 times to pair the 1st time, then like 20 times to pair the 2nd time after having my car's data reset per a repair/extended battery disconnection or something. Regardless, after it works it works well. Good luck.
Treo 700p (Sprint) - TL Drops Incoming Calls Immediately
Recently upgraded Treo 650 to 700p (Sprint). All features of the new Treo and the TL's HFL work well EXCEPT: incoming calls are sensed by the car, the announcement of incoming call starts, but the call is immediately dumped back to the Treo. Any ideas on what settings I may have worng? Thanks!
700p Pairs but won't connect with HFL in TL

Altough my new 700p (Sprint) originally worked some of the time, I now cannot get it to "talk" to the TL. It pairs and is recognized, but the car won't take over the call at any time. Note the Bluetooth symbol on the phone becomes "headphones" and I cannot find any setting to prevent that symbol from coming on. My old 650 continues to work as it always did - just fine and most features enabled. Any help out there? Sprint is atrocious at help with Bluetooth and Palm not much better.
treo 650 update works
I just did an update for the treo650 through palm for Verizon and now I have signal strength and the connection seems better so far. Here is the link for the update http://www.palm.com/us/support/downl...r/verizon.html.
I'll keep you updated on how it holds up. This is not the 1.04 update its a new one the 1.05.
