Nav Dvd?

Hey guys, quick question to anyone who might know this. I have a 2006 tl with nav and recently purchased a used 2004 mdx with nav. Is it possible to copy my 2006 nav dvd and put it in the mdx nav system to get a more updated version? Not even sure if this violates any copyrights laws. I mean, i paid for both systems.

Any advice would be appreciated!

Well, you own both cars so if you make a backup of your DVD its not illegal. But if you copy and resell them then it is.

I wish I knew as well what the method is to copy them. I plan to experiment this eventually when I have time.

If you follow this thread, you'll find out it's not possible to back up your dvd.

Actually it is possible because a few members here have done it.

pimpin-tl, references please. There may be a couple that have said they've done it, but when asked to prove it, nothing.

alsedr, the MDX and TL uses different navigation systems from what I've read. So using one DVD from one system in the other will not work.

I have no references but I remember seeing them on here. I will try to tackle this because I do have a dual-layer dvd burner but need to pickup some dvds that are dual layer rw's so I don't keep ruining them.

thanks... to me, it's just stupid to have to spend close to $200 because my house is not on the dvd. don't understand why it should be that much, i mean, it's an upgrade, we've already bought the system. It's not about new features, it's just about more updated roadways.

Good luck! I suggest you look at the thread Thorin78 pointed out above. Theres an older one in the 3G TL Garage as well.
