My Dom's, iPod Video;Back Up Camera Project

I have begun a project on my 2006 TL.

It will use the following components:

1. Blitzsafe HON/M-Link1 V.2X with Video out --see this link: http://www.blitzsafe.com/blitz_forum...ion=1&get=last

2. 80g iPod Video

3. Dom's PMP Video in for Nav

4. Kenwood CCD-2000 back up camera.

I should have all the componets by Friday... hopefully I can knock it our this weekend.

I have the blitzsafe already in the car, but I ordered the cable today.

Good luck with the install! Just in case you haven't seen them, there are several helpful guides in the 3G TL Audio & Electronics FAQ that should help you out.

hey just wondering how your install went, and also how do you like the quality of the Kenwood back up camera? is it better quality than the other camera listed on ebay?

I just finished it yesterday... I had a bad Dom's unit that they replaced without a problem.

The video through the blitzsafe Ipod audio and video cable is excellent.

The Kenwood camera quality is very good. It looks as good as the camera on my wife's Odyessy (factory camera). I was a little concerned about the Wendy's camera quality and waterproofness. I was not able to mount it as hidden as the Wendy's camera, but it is still pretty well hidden.

Here are some photos of the camera. The rest of the install is pretty straight forward and well documented in other threads. I used the add a circuit for power.

The Blitzsafe iPod audio and video adapter works like a charm. I already had the blitzsafe installed, so it was a matter of upgrading the cable that goes from the Blitzsafe module to iPod and then running a video cable back to the Dom's unit.

Here are some photos of the Kenwood camera. It is a Kenwood CCD-2000 I did not get photos of cutting the trim, but you can see that I removed a minimal amount. I did dremel a little bit of the license plate light plastic lens to feed the cable to the truck.

Here is a rear view of the camera:

Here is a look at the mounting location:

Here is close up of the camera:
