I recently acquired an 06 TL, and the previous owner only gave me 1 aftermarket key, with no key fob. I bought some factory key blanks, had them cut and programmed, and they work great. I also bought 2 factory key fobs, but I have been unable to get them to program. The remotes have the following FCC ID: OUCG8D-387H-A, which is believe is the proper remote for an 06. Both remote's LED light up when pressing lock or unlock, so the batteries are good. I have followed these programming steps:
1. Turn the ignition switch ON (II)
2. Within 1 to 4 seconds, press the transmitter lock or unlock button with the transmitter aimed at the keyless receiver unit behind the driver’s side of the dashboard.
3. Within 1 to 4 seconds, turn the ignition switch OFF.
4. Within 1 to 4 seconds, turn the ignition switch ON (II).
5. Within 1 to 4 seconds, press the transmitter lock or unlock button with the transmitter aimed at the keyless receiver unit behind the driver’s side of the dashboard.
6. Within 1 to 4 seconds, turn the ignition switch OFF.
7. Within 1 to 4 seconds, turn the ignition switch ON (II).
8. Within 1 to 4 seconds, press the transmitter lock or unlock button with the transmitter aimed at the keyless receiver unit behind the driver’s side of the dashboard.
9. Within 1 to 4 seconds, turn the ignition switch OFF.
10. Within 1 to 4 seconds, turn the ignition switch ON (II).
11. Within 1 to 4 seconds, press the transmitter lock or unlock button with the transmitter aimed at the keyless receiver unit behind the driver’s side of the dashboard.
12. Confirm you can hear the sound of the door lock actuators within 1 to 4 seconds, then push the transmitter lock or unlock button again, or the code will not be stored.
13. Within 10 seconds, aim the transmitter (up to two additional ones) whose codes you want to store in the keyless receiver, and press the transmitter lock or unlock buttons. Confirm that you can hear the sound of the door lock actuators after each transmitter code is stored.
14. Turn the ignition switch OFF, and remove the key.
15. Confirm proper operation with the transmitters.
NOTE: Once the programming mode is entered, the remote button must be pressed a second time. If the button is not pressed, or if the ignition switch is turned OFF, the programming for all remotes will be cancelled.
I ASSume that all TL's had keyless entry from the factory. The power locks and all other power functions work properly, so I don't believe it is a fuse issue. Is there any way to test the wireless receiver? Any other pro-tips on things to check/investigate? Thanks!
I'm wondering if previous owner had an aftermarket alarm system installed....
Oh good idea. I haven't seen any evidence of an aftermarket alarm system (I replaced the battery when I got it and it didn't go nuts), however I'll poke around and see if I see anything like that.
Any resolution to this? I have a 2012 TL Adv package, and my original key FOB is falling apart. I purchased a aftermarket FOB from ebay, and I'm trying to program it by following the above instructions but it doesn't work. Battery good, LED indicator comes on, but not programming. The instructions for aftermarket key says to switch out the mother boards but it's not compatible, meaning the housing won't accomodate the inerds of the OEM.

Any help would be appreciated.
Nope, I'm not quite sure where to go from here or what to check. I'm not sure how I would even go about testing the receiver on the car.
take it to a local locksmith. i bought a new aftermarket flip key and couldn't program it as my 3rd key myself with the method you tried.
my locksmith hooked it up to a machine and got them all set up correctly without issue.
this key here works with our cars:
I was able to get a local locksmith to program 2 new OEM non-flip keys for me (06 didn't use the flip key) using a programming tool, however they said they would program the remotes the same way I was doing it and didn't have any great suggestions.
