First, you have to make sure you have the correct remote for your car. Has this remote ever worked with the car? If not, perhaps it's the wrong one.
Check eBay for remotes and see what FCC IDs they have on them for the same model year as your car. I know they all have the same ID for certain year cars.
Taken directly from the Factory Service Manual for '99-'03 (This worked for me setting up two new remotes)
1. Turn the ignition switch ON (II)
2. Within 1 to 4 sec. push the transmitter lock or unlock button with the transmitter aimed at the receiver in the passenger's multplex control unit.
3. Within 1 to 4 sec. turn the ignition switch OFF.
4. Within 1 to 4 sec. turn the ignition switch ON (II).
5. Within 1 to 4 sec. push the transmitter lock or unlock button with the transmitter aimed at the receiver in the passenger's multplex control unit.
6. Within 1 to 4 sec. turn the ignition switch OFF.
7. Within 4 sec. turn the ignition switch ON (II).2.
8.Within 1 to 4 sec. push the transmitter lock or unlock button with the transmitter aimed at the receiver in the passenger's multplex control unit.
9. Within 1 to 4 sec. turn the ignition switch OFF.
10. Within 4 sec. turn the ignition switch ON (II).
11. Within 1 to 4 sec. push the transmitter lock or unlock button with the transmitter aimed at the receiver in the passenger's multplex control unit.
12. Confirm you can hear the sound of the door lock actuators. Within 1 to 4 sec., push the transmitter lock or unlock button again. The keyless receiver's now in the programming mode. You must push transmitter lock or unlock button of the first transmitter again program that transmitter.
13. Within 10 sec., aim the transmitters (up to three) whose codes you want to store at the receiver, and press the transmitter lock or unlock buttons. Confirm that you can hear the sound of the door lock actuators after each transmitter code is stored.
14. Turn the ignition switch OFF, and pull out the key.
15. Confirm proper operation with the new code(s).

If you're sitting in the car you should be close enough that the signal from your transmitter gets to the receiver.
Let us know how it goes!
Well i found out where the mulitplex unit is... I seen a diagram, and i was pointin the fob to glovebox... Tried 3 times, no luck anytime... I seriously do not know. I have the right remote and shit. I really don't know. How much do you think ACURA would charge to this....???
My car is a 2003TL-S, but I'm pretty sure '02 and '03 are identical in just about every way.
The FCC-ID on my remote is:E4EG8D-444H-A.
I have both memory 1 and 2 for my car and I bought both of them on eBay. I used the exact instructions listed above and it worked. It did take me a few tries to get all the timing right. I also remember there was some strangeness with the last few steps, especially when programming two remotes.
I wonder if key 2 cannot be programmed without key 1 or something like that. I'm just making guesses right now. I would think not, but anything is possible.
Are you sure the batteries in your transmitter are good? Perhaps you should replace them anyway...

Hey Guys,
I've been trying all night with these remotes and it's not working. Two questions:
1. Does it matter what key you use ? Because I only have the valet key right now
2. The numbers on the remotes match my old ones in every way, BUT there is no label on each as to what number it is. Seat 1 or Seat 2...I says something about a company and then "Japan" underneath where that label should be. Should it still be working ?

You probably have the wrong remote if you don't have the memory 1 or 2 posted on it. I don't think you can get the non-memory remotes to work on the memory seat cars.
I found them here cheap for the 02:

im pretty sure the ones without the seat option works too. i just bought 2 from ebay for $14 each and programmed them both at the same time.. i have my older 2 remotes still if anyone wants to buy them. (i replaced them cause they are worn but they work good still) oh yea they have seat option 1 and 2.
Hey...If anybody knows what these remotes with no Seat Programs are for pls let me know. If they are of any use to you, you can have for the same thing I paid for them...$20 plus shipping for both. At least somebody can get some use out of them.

I have been trying this for two day on my 03' TL, both fobs are original which came with the car, none of the equipment is changed, only the battery was unplugged
now both fobs don't work, the navi and radio work after I entered the codes
I have been trying these instructions but doesn't seem to work for me.
Don't kow what to do

Don't kow what to do
The "Gotcha"
I just ended about 20 minutes of futility trying to follow those instructions. I ignored one very important part. "Remove the key." Evidently the programing does not finish until you remove the key.
Hope that saves you some time.
