Ideas on troubleshooting Navigation Problem
Hello All,
I am a new user to the site and this is my first time posting.
Here's my issue:
After starting my car the navigation proceeds to boot up and then reboots continuously.
Occassionally, the nav will load completely, allowing me to select the 'agree' button on the warining page. But after a few minutes, the nav system reboots.
Anyone ideas on what the problem may be and how to fix it?
Thanks.

You may want to search next time, as this topic has been covered many a time before on here, especially because there is a bulletin that (may) pertain to your situation. That said, here's the quick check of what to do:
Turn your key to the (I), or (II)/running position. Open your trunk, and eject the navi disc. (Right hand side, bottom of trunk - open the flap up, push the eject button). Upon removing the disc, look for circular scratches around the outside edge, about 1/4" from the edge. If you have these, then you will most likely need a new navi unit and disc. There is a bulletin for this, as it covers quite a few of the cars in the Acura line, and quite a few years.
If you don't have any scratches, then it is most likely (just) the navi unit, which is still quite expensive. There is a small chance that even if the disc does not appear to be damaged, that it is in some other way, causing your booting problems. But in my experience, anytime I see a complaint like this at work, the navi unit is to blame.
On a side note, since you didn't mention the year of your car, if you end up purchasing a navi unit, you may want to think about getting a new navi disc, as there are patches, new POIs, roads, etc, especially if your disc is four or five years old! Good luck with your diag, and once again, welcome to AZ!

If it turns out to be the Navi unit, it is not particularly expensive to fix. You can remove it yourself and send it in to Alpine to be fixed for about $160 including return shipping.
Do a search for Alpine and you'll find the thread with the address to send it to.
However, several people with this problem have been able to solve it simply be cleaning their DVD and/or running a cleaning DVD in the player. Good luck and let us know what you find out.

I have an 04 TL. My problem is identical to yours. It just started a few days ago. Have you had any luck with correcting this? There is a wealth of info in regards to this problem, however it seems others are getting an error message. It seems ours does not even get the chance to even display that.

I am having the same issue. Navigation continuous reboots when I start my car, at most times I have to enter in the navigation unlock code, and sometimes it locks up and reboots continuously. I recently checked the DVD and cleaned it so there's no scuff marks on it. They may be very minor scratches that I may not be able to see. I just ordered the latest dvd. Since I have the navigation orange version 3.30 dvd, its probably time to upgrade to the latest version 3.90. I'm hoping this will fix any navigation rebooting and lockup issues.

After upgrading to my nav dvd to 3.90, problems went away but it came back recently. Today I took my car to the dealer to see if they were able to find the cause, they stated it was the problem of the LCD unit. I find that hard to believe. They are charging me 630 bux to fix this issue. From what I read many members here are having the same issue I am having and able to fix it either from cleaning their DVD nav unit, or sending it into Alpine to have it fixed. Currently I am opting for the cheaper solution which is cleaning the drive. If it doesn't work, I am sending the nav unit drive into Alpine.
I just purchased an '04 tsx. My screen stays on "please check disc." The seller had it working before I finished the deal.
I checked disc, and nothing seems to be wrong with it. Took it to dealer. They told me it must be the player. Could replace for $630.
I'll read the bulletin and get back.

It won't be a ver. 3.90, which was from 2010 or so-- it'll be a version 3.D0, from 2014 and is the most recent Orange DVD.
You might be able to find a used 3.90, 3.A0, 3.B0 or 3.C0 at a discount in the Black Market here or on E-bay.
