I am confused... Is it BOSE or not?

I was under the assumption that this was a BOSE system in my 05 TL....but I cannot find a single BOSE symbol or word.

Is this not a bose system? If not...then is adding an aftermarket amp an easy possibility?

Any help would be great!

Thanks

the system featured in your fine automobile is the Panasonic ELS Surround DVD-Audio System. designed by some grammy winning producer or another. all i know is that it sounds pretty sweet

WOW it sounds great..just not loud enough.

Does this mean I can add amps without any issues or is it like the BOSE system where I have to replace the whole dang thing?

I like the head unit alot. I would just like alot louder and then replace the sub.

I have a JL Audio 300/4 and a JL Audio 500/1 sitting in my garage. I didn't know if I could add them to the new TL....

Someone give me some good news tonight!!

Yes you can add those JL amp in. I would suggest to keep the OEM amp to run your existing OEM speakers and only hook up your mono block JL 500watt amp to a single or dual subs such as 10 or 12inch. If you do, you would need a line converter to tap of the rear speakers to convert to rca to your JL amp. THen you would need to find a good remote wire from the front. Then all you need is a 4 gauge power cable from your battery to your JL amp. It is that simple!!!

Does anyone have any diagrams for removing the roof on the trunk roof?

I had one of those tech manuals for my '02 TL-S, should I just purchase another one for the '05?

Post this request in a new thread and somebody with the manual will scan them for you - this will get more attention from people with the manual. I sold my TL manual when the car was totaled otherwise I would do it for you.

If you are just going to add a sub, use a line level converter and wire it to the sub output. Disconnect the output to the rear sub. By doing this you will have sub control from the HU. If you decide to add a amp to the highs, you will want to replace them. The speakers in the car are a 2 ohm speaker. This is great for the factory system, but will distort quickly on a after market amp. Also, replacing the speakers in the car without adding a amp on them will result is some volume loss. You are right, it sounds good like it is, but it doesn't get loud at all. I work in car stereo, and like my music a little louder. I am currently working on a fiberglass box that will fit in the drivers rear corner. Once completed I will post some pictures.

Thank goodness it isn't a Bose system. The overpowered single-note bass would have driven me nutz.

i've got a jl 250/1 running a jl 12w3. the amp is hooked up to a basic hi/lo converter wired right on the plug that came off of the factory sub. this gives a good bit of bass and still gives u sub control from the factory deck. this also lets you turn the bass down so the 5 spkrs don;t stress and you can turn them all the way up. make sure you build the box right 'cause this can really mess your bass up.
