Loss of navigation reception with tint

Has anyone had any problems with their navigation after they put tint on their car? I had a problem with my tint weakening my signal quality so I took the tint off. I was told from another place of a tint that will not decrease the navigation signal quality. I would appreciate any info about what kind of tint is best to use.

I have noticed no problems at all and I am using a metallic tint (Quantum). I have also used my Navi at least a dozen times with no problems. How do you know if it weekend your signal? There isn't a signal strength bar anywhere that I am aware of.

Loss of Navigation Reception

For those of you claiming that your window tint is making you lose gps reception try this. There are so many differant types of tint out there that differant ones have a differant effect. When your nav screen is on, hold map/menu and the cancel button all at the same time for 5-7 seconds. It will bring you to the diagnoses screen. Press the upper right GPS reception button and drive around. It will show you all the sattelites that you are picking up. You need at least four for accurate readings. If you have at least four there is nothing wrong. My good friend is an acura master tech. and he tells me do it your self tricks when I have a problem. Just thought I would mention it since I read problems about gps reception and window tinting quite a bit. Happy Fourth of July

No problem, also if you think your touch screen is off or not working properly there is a link in the gps diagnosis screen to recalerbrate your touch screen. You should not do it though unless your sure it is off. When in the diagnosis screen you can look at alot of cool stuff. That is where the dealer techs go first when you complain of any problems with your navi.

I went with the ceramic tint, as well, and did not have any loss of satellites. Depending upon where you live, the cost isn't that much more for the ceramic tint. I figured, why mess with a $2000 nav system over a couple hundred extra dollars.

Have metallic tint and never had a problem. Had ceramic tint on my tsx and had a problem in Hilton head but when i ran diagnostics i had only 2 satellites. Your back window with tint will not have any effect on the navi. the antenna is already sitting below sheet metal in the trunk anyways.

The owner's manual says metallic tints may affect the Navigation System as the antenna is under the rear shelf.
