Finally .... Completed my system install !
Finally .... Completed my system install !
Well this passed weekend I finally finished my install. Ive been collecting/hoarding parts since I bought the car in the begining of May. I knew once I got this car , I was going to be upgrading the speakers as my brother has the same car so I already knew what to expect out of the stock stuff. Anyway I'll quit rambling and onto the Parts list and pictures.
All wire, rca's , distribution blocks and battery terminals are all from Knu Konceptz . Their quality is simply amazing ! Not only that, you get more product for the price !
- Knu Konceptz 4 gauge Kolossus Install kit
- Knu Konceptz 8 gauge Kolossus wire
- Knu Konceptz 5 Meter Klarity RCA's x 2
- Knu Konceptz Kord speaker wire 12 gauge and 16 gauge
- Knu Konceptz knickel plated Distribution Blocks
- Knu Konceptz knicel plated battery terminals
- PAC LOC w/remote turn on
- Memphis M-Class 16- MMCS6A 6.5 Syncronus Comps
- Memphis M-Class 16-MC6 6.5 Co-Ax
- Memphis M-Class 15-MC1.500 Class D amp
- Memphis M-Class 15-MC2.100 Class AB amp
- JL Audio HO110RG-W3v3 ( box and sub )
- Dynamat/Hush Mat
Once I got everything, I started with the rear speakers 1st and the removal of the stock sub . Layed down Dynamat on the top and bottom of the rear deck. Installed the M-Class coax's and Loc. Then proceeded to run all the wires and get everything ready. I took the door panel of and speaker and quickly realized that my woofer on the comp set was way to big for the opening and a lot deaper. Not having the spacers and the right tools to open up the speaker openings I took it my local car audio shop and had them install my comps. I didnt really feel to comfortable cutting open my doors. So the shop made me some MDF spacers and installed my comps. 1 good thing , is I didnt even mention that I wanted my crossovers under the dash and not in the doors ! They had done it for me ! While I was their , I also had them make me an amp rack as Im not to swavay on carpentry work. Didn't take to many pictures as well all know how speakers fit and look inside our doors ! I did take pictures of a few things. So enjoy .
Knu Konceptz FTW !

Memphis Comps

Front & Rear speakers

Amps .... I used Nylon spacers to space the amps a little bit off the board to help with cooling.

Wired up and ready to mount

Mounted ( from the inside , with the arm rest down and plastic peice down you can the dist blocks and wires , good thing its nice and neat ! )

From inside the trunk

The sub and box are all from JL Audio . The sub is protected by a few bars that run across it ( from the factory ) . The box sits up flush against the amp wall and hardly takes up any of my trunk space and leaves plenty to be utilized. I'll get a picture up of the box here shortly.

Nice looking set up.
What does the factory amp put out ?
I've had my TL for just over a yr now. I am getting the itch to upgrade the radio. I like the way you did the amps. I may have to look into doing the same.

Thanks man !
Ive only had mine since May ! The stock amp only puts out 20 watts to each channel. At 1st I had my comps hooked up to stock amp, but the stock amp couldnt keep up with the sub and the bass was over powering and could barely hear the fronts at all. So I got a 2nd amp to power the comps only and now it sounds 100x's better ! I can turn the power up on the sub amp and still hear the words . I wouldnt waste the time on the stock amp for the fronts. Im using the stock amp for the center and rear speakers only.
Does this H.O. 10w3 really bump? I was toying with the idea of getting one of those things. I live in a condo and it's getting very hard for me to fabricate any more enclosures due to sawdust, noise, and wife getting on my case for "wasting my time" haha. The biggest downside is price, wow these things aren't cheap!

No i sure dont . It was pretty self explanatory on how to set it up . Just connect positive to positive and negative to negative , connect the rcas and turn the gains on the LOC all the way up and your done
