Navigation Class Action Lawsuit

Hello All,
As we all know that the Honda/Acura Alpine DVD Navi unit has problems with their system which causes inconviences and costly repairs. I would like all within the forum who have had this problem to post on the forum under this thread to get a general idea of who currently has an issue, who had theirs repaired, and who had theirs replaced. I will be consulting with a lawyer here in Denver, CO and for those who would like to join me in talking would be more than welcome to join. As this is a huge issue that demands either recall or replacement for free by the manufactures as a defective product.
Thanks Troy (tunit)

can anyone help to post this across all communities in this forum? as well as the if you are a member?
Thanks again and I will keep you all posted

I'm not 100% sure if it is my Navi Unit, but my screen is glitched as the keyboard only highlights certain letters/numbers. My iPod video unit doesn't work because I believe the unit is faulty.

That is exactly the problem. Why wasnt this issue resolved from Alpine years ago? IDK it started 5 plus years ago and is still an issue. At least there is some well documented problems to make this work

I thought Panasonic partnered with the TL's Navi/Sound.

A lawsuit over a broken Navi system in an 8yr old car? Good luck with that.

The keyboard issue isn't a problem its actually a feature of the nav system. The system only highlights letters/numbers that actually exist when searching for a destination.

I had to ship mine to alpine. Seems many many people have and I always wondered why they didn't recall this.

So I'm only allowed to hit 2 letters regardless?

So the only thing I can put in the Navi system is 'TR TR'. I wonder how many places in the world has that address...

I had mine replaced twice under warranty, but yeah...this does not seem like a fruitful idea.

Despite my DVD unit being sent to Alpine 2 years ago for repair and updates, the one thing it has always fukked up on is ROUTING! This thing often takes me around in circles and blocks or miles unnecessarily out of the way no matter how I have it set, Direct Route, Easy Route, Minimize, Maximize, etc.

The stealership service departments used to tell me I have to get the updated disk to fix the problem, BULLSHIT! The problem just seems to have gotten worse with every new DVD, including the 2012 disk that's in there now. For example, those of you familiar with the NYC area will understand what I mean when coming down the Palisades Pkwy heading to a destination somewhere in NJ, this god damned thing will tell me to get on the George Washington Bridge ($12 toll), get on 9A (Henry Hudson Pkwy), turn around, and come back across the bridge.

There's something very very radically wrong with this picture and Honda/Acura and/or Alpine need to fess up on this one BIGTIME!

So if there's a class action suit, COUNT ME IN !!!!

If you've been having problems for five years, you set yourself up for serious statute of limitations or laches issues.

Don't waste your time and money.

I have a 05 Acura tl, the navigation just gave out on me about 3 months ago but I keep putting the repair off because its so expensive. First Alpine was charging $150 okay thats not to bad but now they are charging $320 for the same repair. They bumped up their prices march on 2012. Acura/ Honda did a very poor job in dealing with this issue they never made a recall on the problem that has happen with thousands of units. I hope something comes out of this, as it should have been dealt with in 2004 when it started happening to these units.

Well, you can add me to this list as well. My drive unit passed away about 5 months ago. I tried the DIY for cleaning the laser from another thread on here. Not sure if it worked or not as the DVD is too scratched.

I'm not saying I'm looking forward to mine failing but mine will get replaced with a tablet behind the factory trim as one member did. It looks factory, much better than factory but factory. You get 100x the features of the factory setup with 10x better graphics and no drive unit to go bad. Best yet, you have a great upgrade for about the same price as rebuilding the factory setup.

Sent to Alpine and they said its not repairable due to water damage. God knows where water came from.

Mine has never been serviced, but has been glitchy for years. Keeps rebooting. Will work for a while, then reboot. Did it 3 or 4 times in 2 hour trip today. I tried cleaning the thing with a special CD, no workee. I may put in a new disk just to check, but I kinda think it's a POS.

It's a 2004, though, like others I don't hold out much hope for any action. And if it does work the lawyers will get most of the dough, we'll get like $25 each. If we're lucky. Don't kid yourself on this, but you can count me in if you like. The Navi has been glitchy since 2007, IIRC.
