Not really possible. The stock amp only has one output for front left and one for front right. The split in the signal is made behind the glove box on a distribution block. It would require something that reaches up into the dist block to power the tweeters. Not impossible but the much better choice would be to just run new wires from the tweeters to the amp.

aside from chaning the ohm resistance, is it really necessary to split signal from the mid and the tweet? Even component sets run them off 1 channel (given, they include a beefy crossover).

uncald, sounds like we have similar connections, although I ended up taking my signal directly behind headunit (soldered rca leads). When I did this though, the signal was too low for the aftermarket amp and I ended up having to add a line driver. Is the RF amp getting a good enough signal becasue it has speaker level inputs?

I appreciate your input.

In some TL's we have used line drivers but most of the amps we've installed do fine with just the signal from the OE radio. Including this Rockford amp.

Uncald... Just need to get the final updated price on this..... Dang it I said I wasn't going to do any more MODS till 2012 but this is the perfect answer to the weak arse factory setup and since the option for the stockie donor is moot... Put me down I'm ready

I didn't see any mentions but are there going to be any settings on the amp that you can control?

Since this is not a 6 channel solution, what are you guys going to do so you dont loose the center and sub?

I have not dove into the audio system on the TL at all since I picked it up this summer. I'd like my car to look 100% stock so I dont want to change any speaker sizes or add a sub in the trunk.

But I'd like to have some cleaner more powerful sound

so by buying this set up it will benefit of having a better sound through out the front and rear speakers.. now to add a sub and amp in the trunk.. would i have to only run rca wires from this amp to my sub amp?

^^You could find a decent but pretty small and low rms (so you don't blow your stock sub/center) 2 channel amp to piggy back to in the trunk or under seat then you'd feed wire back to the factory wiring and feed it back.

Looks like we're going to run the first 10 buyers at $298 plus $10.50 USPS Priority and the first 10 will get $40 refund if they ship me their factory amp. Working or not.

That price is subject to change after the first 10.

I'll get a group buy thread posted in the Sponsored Sale area within a few days. If you're ready to purchase before then please send me a PM.

Uncald4, the only setting that's on the amp itself is the gain? Are there any crossover settings?

There are gain and crossover settings. Variable gain which will be preset when shipped. There is a crossover switch which will be set to high-pass.

Wait time will be very short. If we're getting speedy core returns. Looking at two or three day turn around.

That's an amazing service...I wish I had had this option before getting as deep into it as I already am. Initially, I felt like I would have been happy with the stock system but just a little more powerful in all source modes. Now, I'm too far gone but think it's great that you now have the option. GREAT alternative to replacing the stupid noisy factory amp.

Not extremely car audio savy here. I upgraded all 7 of my interior speakers with infinity kappa speakers to try and get some better quality sound from my stock setup. I think it helped a bit but nothing great. Stock sub is removed.

All the infinity speakers are 4ohm. This amp is 75 Watts x 4 @ 4-Ohm. I dont really understand the ohm thing but will this work?

I also have a 10" alpine R sub in a sealed box in the trunk with a rockford amp. There is a line out converter coming from the stock subwoofer speaker wire. I wanted it this way so I would have control over the sub gain by using the stock head unit.

I saw mentioned that a "RCA pigtail for subwoofer option" would be available. If this is the case, would I just ditch my loc and run the rca's from the front amp to my sub amp? If so, wouldnt I lose the option to control the sub gain with the stock headunit? Any way to work that out?

Yes you'd just ditch the LOC. And you should be able to still control the sub with the stock head-unit because the rockford aftermarket amp is basically the stock amp with more power. You'll definitely notice a different. Aftermarket speakers don't do justice until you amp them.

The new amp is only wired and meant to power the four inside speakers so I'd doubt that it'll still maintain sub gain control. Your trunk mounted sub amp would need one of those bass gain knobs you could mount somewhere up front (honestly, this is so much easier to adjust as each song changes how much bass it has, especially XM).

About Ohm...it's pretty easy if you think of it simply. Ohms are measurements of resistance to the wattage being presented.

So let's say a 1 ohm stable amp puts out 500 watts at 4 ohms of resistance (speaker determines the resistance...2 ohm dvc etc...check out the12volt.com for more info). That same amp would put out 1000 watts at 1/2 of that resistance at 2 ohms and another 500 watts at 1 ohm wiring, for a total of 1500 watts.

Make sense?

I think that the subwoofer pigtail would just be added on the preamp side using the subwoofer outputs so that you could just connect the RCA from there back to the subwoofer amp. If that's the case you would still have subwoofer control from the head unit and wouldn't need the extra controller.

I am really interested in making my front stage sound better with this more powerful amp, but how do we maintain center speaker output for our navi voice? I really need that.

I've been working on that. I've got some mini amps coming to try out on my own TL.

For those of you that haven't been following the new thread here's an update...

This amplifier upgrade is the best audio upgrade for the buck. Read the reviews. Try it for yourself. Click the link on the previous post and see what all the hype is about.

New batch of these to launch next week. Get in.

If we are using this and we come up with a solution to power the center channel will our music still mute when phone and navi voice comes in?

The center channel issue has already been fixed and worked into the plug and play harness. No need for an additional amp.

We've routed the center channel signal to the left front, for nav prompt purposes only. When you're playing music and a prompt comes up... your music will mute down, the prompt will play through the left front and then your music will unmute and carry on. Pretty much the way it does now but without the center channel.

I have a really big problem with this application of this amplifier...

The factory speakers in the TL are all 2ohm and this particular amp from Rockford states that "This amplifier is only capable of operation at 4 ohm".

http://www.rockfordfosgate.com/produ...n_US&p_status=

Read for yourself (under the specification tab "rated power")! This means the amplifier may work for a very short while, but will have serious problems long term!

UNCALD4, can you please explain this?

Ha ha... you're not the first. We have used the amp previously in 2 ohm BOSE equipped cars like the Viper, Escalade, Denali and a handful of 996 and 997 Porsche's. We've only done this after conversations with Rockford technicians. They gave the thumbs up and thought it was awesome that we had developed this plug and play kit. It works great. Sounds great.

After using the amp in these high end cars we tried it in a 2004 TL. This is a TL that we had done all sorts of cool audio in but the guy was still running the factory amp. Anyhow, the factory amp went out. We wired in this Rockford and that sucker sounded amazing too. That was months ago. Since then the dude has blown 2 subs so you know he beats his shit. But that little Rockford is still bangin' away! Still sounds tremendous!

Even with that said, long term usage and voiding of warranty should still be a very large concern for anyone looking into this package. I was told many things the old school waffle amps could do, but was also told, doing those things would void my warranty.

If you can get a Rockford Fosgate to give a letter of sorts saying this application (that goes against their owners manual) is proper and covered, then I would say "go for it".

I have been an authorized Rockford dealer since 1998. I have a great relationship with them. If my Rockford techs say I'm covered under warranty I keep truckin. If anyone has an amp that gets out of line send it back. It will be replaced on the spot with a brand new one from my stock.

If my professional experience in car audio for the last 13 years isn't convincing enough. Look at my professional experience here on AcuraZine. It's real because I keep it real.
