Thanks to Rockford Fosgate we've been able to deliver some amazing sound without the need for substantial upgrades to the audio system. At ICON Audio Technologies we specialize in high-end audio install. We love these new Rockford Fosgate Punch Series amps for Porsche, Lamborghini, Ferrari, Dodge Viper and new Corvette. It tucks in places that no other amplifier can. It's a great replacement or add-on to the factory amplified system.

Recently we've used it to replace the factory amp in a few 3rd Gen TL's. Most of you know how beautifully our subwoofer enclosures add amazing bass response to your TL. But there is still something missing in your front stage. It's missing power, clarity and volume. This is the cure.

Easy to install. No extras to purchase. Mounts in the factory amp location. The pictures above are from a 2004 TL. We did the install in 20 minutes from start to finish without a plug and play harness.

We are considering a group buy for the amplifier with plug and play harness. Please share your thoughts, suggestions and questions.

I'll help him if he's busy and to get the ball rolling for him. This little guy would be pretty cool to run active (with a processor) and never be able to see it.

seems like a good amp.
Looks like a direct install too but, what about sub and center? Perhaps extend the sub wires to the trunk and get the BRT 300x1?

Is it a line driver too?

Interested depending on price as well. Now coming from a noob in electronics, does these give the factory bass and sub options a more "amplified" effect or what?

this is a good question...since its a 4 channel amp how does this interact with the center and sub?

Here are some details.....

Amplifier: Rockford Fosgate PBR300X4

Power: 75 watts x 4 (although the birth certificates consistently show higher numbers)

Estimated cost: $298 for the amp, "plug and play" harness and mounting hardware. There would be a $45 refundable core charge for your factory amp. Working or not.

Shipping: $10.50 via USPS Priority unless otherwise requested

Warranty: 1 year from date of purchase. Direct swap out.

Estimated time of install: About 15 to 20 minutes with a 10mm socket and socket wrench.

This upgrade will not support the factory center channel or subwoofer. The plug and play harness will include RCA connections for the center channel and subwoofer add-ons. We'll cover that later. This upgrade was intended for our subwoofer enclosure customers that wanted a hotter front stage to compliment the upgraded sub.

This is not official information yet. Still a feeler. Your feedback is appreciated.

Yesterday. While you are at it, solve for a simple non-intrusive amp mount for the trunk and I'll take one of those too. I love this car, but upgrades are just a nightmare without major surgery!

That's one hell of a deal. Many people don't realize how good even the stock speakers will sound with more power. No long power runs, no worries of theft, no additional room being taken up. It's a win-win and I assume a more efficient class D due to it's size.

I'm sure there's a compromise that can be made in the wiring to have the center channel info for navi come through on all speakers.

Do as I did. Purchase a small class D amp like the JL HD or XD series or Alpine PDX series that fit under the seats. They can't be stolen without removing the seats and take up zero room.

You can get the 900/5 for $600 new if you look around. $450 used. Just saw a brand new 600/4 for $450 along with a 750/1 for $400.

Seriously? I raise concerns and he get my comments deleted from the thread. I'm all for finding an amp that will replace the factory amp, but if this guy won't address issues publicly, I would have serious concerns about giving him my business.

Not likely. You will have to be more careful with the volume, especially on bass heavy music. Either that or set the cross over higher so you're not sending really low signals to the door speakers. You'd want to cross the sub higher to pick up the lower mid-bass as well. That will requiring picking up the signal for the sub pre-amp as well.

I'm more concerned about running this amp at a lower load than its rated for. It'll *probably* be okay but its something he *should* be telling his customers about.

I like your star points. geekybiker is right. It's not likely that you will blow your speakers by adding more power. In fact more power means more control which means better sound at higher volumes compared to the OE amp.

We've got a TL in shop today with this upgrade. He's been running it for a couple weeks in conjunction with our custom 10" enclosure. We're going to take more pictures and record more data for those that like more info.

The short story is that it works awesome and sounds great. The long version of this story is almost complete. Once we're assured all is golden it looks like we'll be posting a group buy.

True, more power does mean more control...but it's also much easier to overpower and blow. Just like it's easy to clip/distort and low power and ruin a speaker. This seems like a cool upgrade but our speakers are 2-ohm aren't they? And how would you go about wiring up the center channel and sub?

I ran my stock rears off of 75w (underrated) for a couple years. As long as you watch your high pass point they will take it and sound great. More power gives better dynamics even at the same volume level. With my experiences over the last year or so, I'm all for powering my comps off of 500w and controlling it with the volume knob.

If you want to send 50-75w to the stock speakers you're looking at 100-120hz@24db highpass. I would crank mine until they bottomed out and raise the high pass until they were good.
