Cell phone pairing

Hi, my mother has a TL 2008 w/tech package and an iPhone 6 running iOS 12.2.
Until recently she had no problem using her phone in the car. Now, not only the phone disappeared, but I cannot even find the options to pair it again.
She took the car to an Acura dealer and they could not figure it out. They said "the car is too old to pair with an iPhone"...
Any advice on how to make it work again?

whoever told you its too old... that person is full of shit.

Press the HFL button and say "option" then follow by "paring" (I am assuming your mother HFL still working like it should be)

Of course it is BS.
Is the HFL the only way to access phone pairing? Is there a button combination I could follow?

Yes, using the HFL is the only way to pair the phone.

FWIW, my 2005 HFL stopped pairing with my iPhone SE when it moved to iOS 11.XX from 10.XX. I'm on iOS 12.2 now.
Either my HFL is defective or it doesn't pair to iOS 11+.

mine work fine with my wife iPhone XR. May be its the unit on it last leg as these know to fail pretty bad, if your is original then you might as well buying a loto ticket.

honestly, you probably want to disconnect the HFL before it starts draining your battery.

Also ... that iPhone is older than the car lol that dealer is tripping

See directions in https://acurazine.com/forums/3g-tl-a.../#post13460854

Unplug the HFL connector, then reinstall in reverse order from disassembly.

Should take less than 5 minutes if you have the pry tool for the sunroof switch(I used a thin feeler gauge blade) and 8mm ratchet with you in the car.

I have problem with android. The strange thing is my phone paired when i had android 6.x. Since I updated it to 7.0 the car does not detect the phone.
Google says it is common and not dependent on phone or car mark.
