My new phone is the Motorola RiZR. It paired perfectly with my 05 TL. MID shows Signal level AND Battery level. First Motorola that I have found that shows the battery level.

The Motorola Q works fine. Pairs, Battery, Signal... Everything but what I need...the download phonebook option! Looks like no Verizon phone will do that.

ive got my motorola a1200 to work, this is what i did...

1: get both HFL and fone to do a search

2: fone will find HFL, do the pairing with the secure code

3: HFL will reject, but, just do another pair with the same security code on HFL. at the same time press 'retry' on fone

4:have security digits ready and press 'bond' at the same time you hear 'a new phone has been found' (second time pairing with the HFL)

hope this helps

though, no bat/signal, nor does it show caller id

voice quality is excellent as well as the mic and everything else

I bought the Sony Ericsson W800i about a year ago not even thinking about the advanced bluetooth features ( It was one of the only phones at the time that had 2.0 megapixel camera and full mp3 player functionality) and then when I bought my 07 tls two months ago it transferred the phone book perfectly. The guy at the dealership said I was the first person he had seen that had a phone that did that. All other features (battery, signal, audio quality, etc.) also work perfectly. Of course my phone is outdated now, so I would recommend the W810i (cingular) or if you are willing to spend the money on an unlocked GSM phone like I did and just put your current sim card in it (t-mobile or cingular, I am t-mobile), Get the W950i or M600i. All three of those are great phones. my 2 cents. nothing more.

BB 8800 Address book transfer

The Blackberry 8800 has the address book transfer option, but my '04 TL doesn't support that feature. The '04 only allows a maximum of 50 numbers to be stored and they have to be entered manually, one at a time.

Oh well, everything else works wonderfully with the 8800!

I'm having problems with two brand-new Cingular Moto Razr V3xx's and a 2004 Acura TL with HandsFreeLink.

Everything seems to work perfectly (pairing, battery and signal strength status displays, dialing, hanging up) except the most important thing: I can't hear who I call and they can't hear me. Not a thing. I hear one (more or less) ring when I dial and then all goes muted. They don't hear me. I don't hear them.

Inbound calls work as expected.

On outbound calls, if I open the flip after the system goes mute, it works as expected. If I have the flip open when I make the outbound call, no joy. If I close it then open it in the call, then things start working...

Any thoughts?

I bought this phone almost a year ago assuming it would work with my '05 TL only to find out it really doesnt. I can receive calls on my phone thru HFL but I have never been able to make a call.

If someone found a solution, please let me know. I know that hfl.com lists the phone as compatible, but I cant get it to work.

Do I need to manually install the latest firmware or is it part of the auto updates on my phone?

W950i and M600i are great phones but they are 900MHz triband (900/1800/1900) which is pretty much the rest of the world. Too bad we do not use the 900 band in the US. This means your coverage may be spotty or null in some parts of the country. I used to be able to get an 1800 signal most of the time and all at once Cingular went to 850 for the entire metro area so no more signal. Not sure about T-mobile. Keep that in mind.

I just got the Motorola Q on Sprint and I have a 2006 WDP 6sp TL. Battery, phone signal work great. I've been told that my voice sounds digital so I'm trying to figure out if it's the coverage, phone, car, etc. I would like to transfer contacts over via Bluetooth but thus far I've been unable to accomplish this. Any assistance would be greatly appreciated. My phone is capable but is the car able?

Works great with my Treo 700WX!
I am thinking about trading my Verizon Motorola Krzr for the Treo 700wx. The Krzr work great I get Battey and Tower signal and caller ID shows the number. I was wondering does the treo 700wx give you the batt and signal and caller id too?

Paired up fine, no bat, no signal. but caller id works and phonebook transfer.

speaking of phonebook transfer, what exactley does this do for me?

I'm not able to see names, does not show on my navi screen etc...

is this just supposed to show phone #'s on the data screen? isnt that what caller id is suppose to do?

someone please help

My phone (SE W800i) supports phonebook transfer and it is great. It allows you to search through the entire phonebook on your phone by name using the NAV touchscreen. A keyboard pops up on your screen and you type in as many letters as you want and it brings up every entry that matches your search and you touch one and then it shows all numbers for that person (cell, home, work, etc.) and you touch one and it automatically dials them. Hope that helps.

Everything but answering calls works for me.

Everytime I try to answer a call the radio kicks back on. Calls still connected but I cant hear them.

This sucks. Guess I shouldve checked before I bought it...

I'm using a BB pearl (8100) on my '04 TL, everything works just fine. i get both battery and signal strength indicators. it also has a phone book transfer option, however, i tried using it, but i guess it's not supported since i don't have navigation. I'm also using Cingular (HTC) 8525, it also works flawlessly for calls, however it doesn't show battery or signal strength.

Just checked the Acura.com Bluetooth mini site and it says the Samsung C417 is not compliant with outgoing dialing but you should be able to pair it. I can't even pair mine so I think I am going to get a Nokia instead

Thumbs up Update on Samsung SGH C417 - working

Props to JimiThng, because of you I persisted and got it to work.

This phone pairs and works well in send and receive modes. Signal strength and Caller ID is displayed but battery is not. The phone connects when you get in the car automatically without touching the phone.

One small gotcha while pairing was that the HFL device was grayed out on the menu leading me to believe it was inactive. After selecting it it asked for the 4 ditit number and all went smoothly from then on.

I can also report that Nokia 6126 and Sony Z550 also work and display signal strength and battery.

06 TL : blackberry 8100 pearl paired on first attempt, get both battery and signal strength on MID and outgoing/incoming calls work just fine. Phone is louder than my old v551 motorola which is nice not having to turn the HFL volume all the way up. Have not tried the phone book transfer.

VERY happy with this phone!

phonebook hack for pre-'07 TLs?

Has anyone sorted out if there's a way to have the nav system show your phone's phonebook on the navi screen on a pre-'07 TL? Sure seems like that's a software issue and not a hardware issue . . . is it as simple as getting one's hands on a new DVD?

I have an '05 navi TL (and this is my virgin post, so forgive me if i've messed anything up here - i looked and looked to see if this had already been discussed, I promise!)

Welcome to the AZ forums. Good on ya for searching for similar threads. Personally I think AZ needs to loosen up the searching util. I recommend you post the same message in the root of this sub-forum. This thread is to help those looking for compliant Bluetooth phones, so I don't think too many people will see your post.

Welcome to the Acurazine family, Amr28.

You will get better results, as triggle said, if you copy this post and repost it in the root forum (up one level).

If I see you have done that, I will then delete this post here.

Searching is kind of piecemeal. Even we moderators can't move things in between the main model fora. They used to be completely separate and, after the merger, there are still administrative limits on what we can do.

However, an electronics question concerning a 3rd Generation TL search should produce what you are looking for.

Also, and I suggest you alway do this first, is to look in the 3G Garage "sticky" thread at the top of the forum index.

Is the 2004 Acura TL HFL (Hands Free Link) the same as a current 2007 TL (both non-navi and navi?

No differences in model or version?

Just got my Treo 755p today. No dice pairing the phone. My 2005 Acura TL will not discover this phone. Anyone else have any luck? I realize that this phone is fairly recent so I might have to wait awhile.

I just went through ~10 pages dating back to early 2006. I compiled a list of phones and compatability. It seems like Tero 755p does not work with HFL.

So guys, I went through 10 most recent pages and compiled some stuff. Sorry I got lazy near the end (towards early 2006) so I might have missed some stuff. What I have is the following. Cell phone model, year of the TL in which the phone is tested, battery and signal display on MID, phonebook import, and last if it works or not. These are my main concern right now as I search for a phone to replace my current one. I have a SE z610i which works great but its built pretty crappy so going to find a more sturdy one to replace. "O" stands for work and/or display and "X" means doesn't work and/or display. "-" means no information provided.
I don't know if its a ok request. Is it possible to try to list as much info as you can so people can get a better idea of the compatability of the phone they're planning to purchase. If I have time i don't mind updating this page here and there or just add on to the list. Thanks.
Sorry I can't create a grid of some sort.
