3GTL/2GRL Bluetooth Phones Compatibility...
Didn't read this whole thread, but my new 2007 TL works well with my iPhone. One small glitch is the iPhone doesn't offer a data connection so it can't transfer data with AcuraLink, but all the calling functions are fine, it imports the phonr book and so on.
LG VX8700 411 Problem
I've run into another issue with my LG VX8700. When I dialed 411 information through the car, the answer stayed on the phone! After I dialed I could hear the speaker in the phone answer the call, "city and state please"...this was really strange. I had to pick up the phone and open it up, totally defeating the purpose of "hands free" operation. Anyone else had anything strange like this?

I'm pretty sure I'm limited to 50 numbers also instead of 1,000 if you can import your phonebook. I went to the HFL page and I must say that the Acura engineers do not appear to be working overtime on bluetooth/phone compatibility. It appears that no LG phone can import a phonebook. This is my one big disappointment with the car so far.
I'm not sure that they are part of Honda, perhaps a supplier instead? One long standing beef of mine is that the HFL does not support a "PAUSE" or "2second delay" in the number stream. This makes it impossible to automatically log onto voice mail systems etc. using HFL. Honda/HFL seems not to acknolwedge this flaw. Every cell phone I've had for 15 years has supported this function.
Can't get no satisfaction!

Verizon 8830 Compatible
Supports Bluetooth (of course), and supports the Acura Data Link.
My 8830 is configured with the data plan (49/mo) + tethering (15/mo). I believe the 8830 might be the *only Verizon Blackberry* that supports bluetooth tethering. My 8703 has data and tethering but tethering only works via the USB connection.

I also wish there was a "pause" available in the HFL. Dialing VM or Conf Calls is not quite so "HF".

HI - I'm not sure exactly what was happening, but you do recall that if you press the HFL key and say TRANSFER the call will be switched from the cell phone to the car, or from the car to the cell phone; really handy if you want to continue your call if you are leaving the car.

Sometimes its in my pocket and I can hear the other person talking through my pocket. It's annoying to say the least. I don't know if its a problem with the HFL or my phone.
That command didn't work for me on many occasions...the HFL buttons still work tho but sound doesnt come out the speakers....

I have a Samsung A870 phone. It was easy to mte the phone however the HFL does not recognize incoming calls. If I try to transfer an incoming call, the HFL says there is no incoming call. If I answer the call on my cellphone, the HFL kicks in!
Thanks BCGuy! I actually got the Samsung 870 and so far it appears to work as advertised by the Acura website (of course, I'm in the U.S. with Verizon). In other words, the signal strength, battery, and roam indicators don't work. However, I haven't tried to transfer yet or any more advanced features so I hope that works too!

I was able to transfer my phone book over with myThe LG VX8550(Chocolate 2). Signal, bat met, all work as well. Unfortunately, it's having issues handing over calls to the HFL. If i dial from say the phone book, or even voice dail....the call stays on the phone instead of transferring to the HFL. Kind of weird....I'm not sure if this a consistent issue or happening every now and then...I need to mess with it some more.
I was hoping to try the new Razr 2 V9m, unfortunately it looks like you'll only be able to transfer phonebook numbers one at a time(vcards) according to verizon's website. I'm also not sure if will display the bat, sig meter info.....verizon has it listed as N/A for the phone.

Anyone else using the W385 with sucess? The Acura site has this model in testing mode, but I am up for a new VZ contract on Saturday and would like to get this phone.
Try this. Tell the HFL link to pair and find the phone, have the phone search for devices as well. My LG VX8550 chocolate 2 would do the same thing, I would put the phone in discovery mode and wait..but the HFL would just time out and not find anything. So the next time I put the phone in discovery mode told the HFL to pair and told the phone to look for devices as well. They found each other.

Does any other Q user have the same issue???

Re. Cingular v3xx with firmware R26111LD_U_96.71.95R that almost works (only handsfree calling doesn't work) with Acura '04 TL HFL:
I spent many hours pestering AT&T and Motorola to get updated firmware. Both said call the other and neither acknowledges any possibility of software problems in the phone and blame the Johnson Controls HFL. Both side said the other has to make firmware updates available. Motorola implied that AT&T won't let them ship updates for AT&T phones.
After several tries I finally got to somebody at AT&T who agreed it sounded like a software defect in the phones and agreed to do a warranty exchange once he confirmed that Moto didn't make a software update available. (The person I finally talked to was in a "data networking" group and was peeved that Bluetooth related calls got forwarded to him by the Level 1 since Bluetooth isn't what they support. But he clearly knew more about it than any of the other AT&T support types I texted/emailed/talked with.) Key to getting agreement was citing the Acura HFL site that says, rare amongst all Moto phones and their kit, the V3xx fails the handsfree calling portion of their test and citing that there are newer versions of V3xx firmware available than the R26111LD_U_96.71.95R. I know this as my co-worker just got a V3xx and I looked.
The refurb phones (both my wife and I have the phones) came with V3xx SW ver R26111LD-AS_U_96.B0.0AR. Initial testing with the '04 TL HFL is all good!!!! After a dozen hours or so spent transferring settings and re-SEEM hacking, et al., it seems worth it. But it sure seems there ought to be an easier way to do a simple firmware upgrade.

I've had no problems so far with voice commands, calling out or receiving calls on the W385. I have not tested call waiting or transferring once the car is off or anything else, yet.

I'm loving the HFL features of my '07 TL, which works OK with my T-Mobile Dash - but I really need the phone book import as I have way too many numbers to manually enter. So searching this thread, I see several Sony Ericsson phones recommended as supporting phonebook import. EG:
and
The Acura handsfree page (http://www.acura.com/models/handsfre...referrer=acura) suggests these Sony E. phones are compatible:
W300i, W600i, W810i, Z520a, Z525a
So the only 'currently available' phone from ATT that is listed on the Acura website or positively endorsed in this thread is the W300i - is that true?
I'm willing to switch from T-Mo to ATT, but not to Verizon/Sprint. Are there any other options available, if I want phonebook import?
Does anyone know if the Z310a is compatible?
Thanks!

Sorry if this phone was mentioned here before (could not find it).
It linked to my '08 first time with no problem in the dealership. Could not transfer the phonebook thou (seems that only some Sony and Siemens phones do).
On the multi.. screen I can see signal level, battery level, what number I dial, who is calling, roaming... .
And the phone, while linked to the HFL, shows little red car icon on the top of the screen (which sucks, because mine is carbon bronze pearl!). Sorry, but I love that color.

I have an idea for the importing of phones books. I figure I could just buy a used phone off e-bay, one that supports importing the phone book, and have my numbers trasnferred from my current phone to the used phone, then import the phone book to my car.
What do you all think? I found a few for around $60.

I got a pearl a couple of weeks ago and just activated my cell service for it. Last night I was pairing it and decided to see if I could get the phone book to import. First try didn't take. Then I decided to try it again...and boom...imported 300 #'s. So it did work for me after a couple of tries.

Won't work. You'll only be able to use the imported phonebook with the phone you imported it with. The phonebook will be grayed out and not be useable when you pair your new phone.
