Phonebook Import?

Has anyone (well, I'm sure they do) have a phone (ie Sony) that imports the phonebook into the '07 navigation that then gets imported into the Handsfree? My question is that when that method of importing numbers into the handsfree, does the contact name show up when receiving a call? I have a Moto 815 and everything works great (indicators and such) but phonebook import is not supported.

I'm thinking of buying a used (lowest price I can find) Sony Z520a simply to get contact names (text) into the handsfree.

I apologize if this is a repeat question, my head started to hurt reading 18 pages in this thread.

Thanks!!

Rick (2 weeks, 2 days in my 07-navi)

Samsung SGH-D807 works, but doesn't show battery or signal strength on the screen.

I have the Motorola Q and it works pretty good with my TL. However, everytime I dial out of the Q, HFL wouldn't automatically pick up so I would have to ask the system to "transfer" (receiving calls works though) One more thing, My Q would shut itself off as I leave the car while the phone is still connected to HFL. Does any other Q user have the same issue???
Please email me @ ball4lyfe@hotmail.com Thanks folks

I just got this Treo 750 from Cingular yesterday and not having luck Pairing it yet with the TL. Any advice from other Treo owners how to do this right? I say phone setup, pair phones, then give it the code. I have on the phone BT turned on and have the phone seach thing on so BT devices can find it. I go into the phone bt area and have it discover while the car is showing, it finds the car, i select it, and it asks for the code when i enter it the car disconnects and the phone again asks for the code that it was not accepted. not sure what is going on.

I ran into something like this and the solution turned out to be deleting all devices in HFL. I was able to pair the phone easily then. HFL has some quirks it seems.

Anyone using these phones:
Moto K1
Moto RIZR
Moto MAXX
Samsung D900

I had a D900 a few months back and had issues keeping it connected to the HFL, it would disconnect during a cal.

Yep, that worked.

I was successful getting the new Cingular Treo 750 working with my 06 TL. BT seems clear and haven't really tried it long enough on the road yet. But I have no signal strength indicator or the tower itself is showing. No battery is showing either.

I just updated the phone with that jetwaremobile software and will test it shortly. I will let everyone know if it shows the signal and batt after that update.

The signal and battery life indicator both work on my TL now. So the 750 works like a charm.

Okay it was working! lol

I am so upset that my TL can't be used well with my new Treo. I had several calls coming in and I would hit the answer button on my car, it picks up, then it hangs up (the car hangs up), phone still active, then the car picks back up again next thing I know it is dead and I can't talk to the person on the phone.

I have tried both of Jet updates 1.20 and 1.24 now, neither have helped this problem. Anyone have a idea how to make this work better?

I really liked using it in my car especially with the new Texas law that might pass with no cell phones it will come handy.

couple more phones..

if u want the most out of a bt phone, use sony erricson w810i which will allow u to download all ur phone book onto ur navi (assuming u have one) and u can just touch and dial your contact. pretty kool stuff. i tried some expensive pda devices that wont even show u the signal strength or battery life, but this does it all. i recomend this phone.

smoore, have you had any luck with the 2004 TL and W810? I have the same issue as you... please let me know as I still have a chance to return the phone if this doesn't work under the 30 day / 30 minute policy

Sounds like what I'm looking for. Another question, once you've transferred the phonebook to the navi system, when you receive a call from someone in that phonebook, does their NAME come up in the multi-information display or just their number?

I'm thinking of getting one of the Sony phones just to sync up my phonebook (from Verizon Motorola --> computer --> Sony Phone --> Navi). I'm locked into phone models as it is company issue and they LOVE Motorola which is pretty basic with the HFL.

Thanks!

SIMM card ?? For you cellular geeks out there

Ok, I'm the 1st to admit I'm cellular technology challenged. In my previous post I mentioned getting a Sony phone simply for getting my phonebook uploaded and maintained in the navi system. Here's my 'UNRELATED TO ACURA' question..

If I get a used unlocked phone from ebay that does NOT include a Simm card, I assume I have to get a simm card as that's where the phonebook (and other carrier info) is stored. Soooooo, I buy a phone from ebay and get the cheapest simm card I can (also from ebay), do I have enough to transfer numbers to the phone?

If so, the 2nd question is can the phone pair to the HFL without being activated to a carrier?

Ok, now I have a 3rd question. I'm thinking of getting the sony 600i (that walkman/pda/phone combo, hopefully NOT in orange). I would think that it being a PDA it would not require a Simm card to function as a pda or mp3 player. It also comes with software/cable for pc use. My old sony Mini-disk player is dying so it'll give me an MP3 player as well.

Sorry about all the stupid questions but I REALLY don't want to sit in my car for hours and read off numbers to the HFL and then have to memorize them for incoming calls.

Thanks for all your help. I'll be quiet now.

Rick

HMMM, maybe I should just take the car to one of the ma-pa cell phone stores around and talk to the guys. They might even have some used phones to sell and I might even be able to test it.

1. If you already have GSM service that you're keeping, just move your existing SIM card over to the phone you buy off eBay. Unless the seller specifically mentions they are selling it with a SIM. You can store your contacts on your SIM, but the W810 and many other phones have their own phone books too. With phones like the W810, you can synch your phone book with Outlook and other PIM software.

2. If the phone is unlocked, then by inserting an activated SIM, the phone is activated and can be paired with the HFL. Without a SIM, the phone only let you dial 911.

3. Not sure about the 600i, but most "phones" need an active SIM in order to use any functions.

My LG has done something similar from the start, also: receives calls to the phone instead of the HFL. When the call comes in, it rings in the car, and when I answer the person on the other end can hear me, but they are not coming through the speakers in the TL.

I have a menu during an active call, and one of the choices is "switch to BT". See if that's the case with your phones. It's a little irritating, and takes about 2 seconds to scroll down to the menu choice on the phone and switch. Then everything works great. I just answer my phone in the car by announcing that I have to switch, and ask the person calling to wait a few seconds.

Blackberry 8100

Hello, does anyone know when the system will be completely compatible with the Blackberry 8100? I have linked it and can use it for incoming calls but not outbound. This is partially due to the address book not being able to be transferred. The incoming calls seem to work perfectly but the outbound is a bit buggy. Let me know if anyone has any information. Thanks.

BLackberry 8700r

This paired up with the Type S HFL, including call disp., and battery life. The only thing it won't allow is "Importing Cellular Phonebook"

Unless someone got an 8700 to do so.

Cheers

I was looking at the handsfreelink website and for this phone, it says it's not able to pair or link to the HFL, but it is able to do all the other functions. How is that possible? If your phone can't pair, you wouldn't be able to do these functions right?

unfortunately, the NAME would not appear up just the number (incomming or outgoing) on the multifunction display, however u can assign voice names to the contact and dial a number just by saying the name by pressing the dial out button and saying "call (name)" and it will do it for you but u have to assign voice tag before hand, it takes less than 5 seconds to do it.

blackberry is a very secured device it will not allow u to transfer any data out of it including ur phone book no matter what as far as bluetooth connection is concerned. i have used bluetooth 2.0 techonology to "hack" in to other bluethooth devices and extract info out of but blackberry rejected all the bluethooth commands. so good luck with blackberry and transfering phonebook info, i use the blackberry 8700, the way i got my phone book transfered was that i bought a sony erricson w810i from cingular corporate store, they have 30 day return policy, i downloaded my phonebook onto it, linked it with my hfl, transferred the phone book and it got permanently stored, returned the phone and now linked my 8700c back and wallah, i have my phonebook.

Ahh, I was thinking that too. Just might have to do that. Now, won't I have to activate it too? If so, they'd better give me my $$$ back.

Thanks for the tip man.

if u already have cingular, u can just buy the phone without a contract and return it within 30 days. they will return the money back. even if u dont have cingular, sign up and cancel within 3 days, u dont have to pay anyting at all, not even $36 activation fee.

I needed to upgrade from my old Ericsson T39 (which I love) to a phone that would work with the HFL in my '05 TL.

I ended up getting a Motorola RIZR. As far as I know, no carrier in the US has it yet. I personally bought mine off Craigslist.

So here's the deal:

HFL paring - works
HFL seeing the phone when you get in the car - works
Battery Indicator - works, but seems to show less battery on the TL than what the on the phone (The phone only has 3 bars on the display for battery strength, so the HFL shows it as 3 out of 5 bars full)
Signal strength- - works
Caller ID - works
Call Waiting Caller ID - does not seem to work, but I need to do more testing
XFer calls to and from the HFL - untested

For those curious, the phone is running software version R452B_G_08.02.08R

I just got my 2007 TL S Navi last month and of course had to get a new phone too... I got a MotoRazr v3 ... everything but the phonebook import works, and everyone I talk to says it sounds great through HFL

The voice command phonebook is ez, and even dialing on my cell, once a call is connected, just push HFL Talk button on wheel to transfer.

All in all, it's cool.

Although I admit I do not have any friends to talk to, so all of this is moot.

Well I had to exchange my Treo 750 due to bugs. I got the BlackJack which works much better. BT works to a point in the TL. I have no attenna or batt, and I can not place calls with the TL. But I can take over calls and answer calls with the TL. Ugg a bit annoying but for now it will work till a update comes out I guess.

Got a Motorola KRZR K1 last week. Works fine. Shows signal and battery. Like the RIZR above, it only shows 3 bars (of 5) for battery charge, but I'm betting that is intentional. That is, the phone only displays 3 bars when fully charged.

Also, as with other phones here, you need to go into the menues of the Bluetooth setup for the phone to make sure that it is set for AutoHandsfree = ON under Settings/Car Settings.

I realize the T-Mobile Dash is currently being tested by Acura & co, but has anyone had better success than my mixed success? If yes, please advise the settings you used.

Thanks!

Okay after all I went through with the Treo and the BlackJack not working with the Acura and drop calls, I went to Sprint PCS and picked up their new Motorola Q! Worked like a champ with the Acura! Tower and Battery!

My Cingular Samsung Blackjack works on my TL, but with the following issues:

- No battery or signal strength meters
- Loud "pop" when placing a call. I thought it had rebooted as it sounded like one of the many times my Treo 650 crashed when placing a HFL call. Now I turn down the volume knob until the outgoing call is ringing.
- Dropped the handsfree connection once (the call went back to the handset and the HFL went back to music). I was able to "transfer" the call back to the HFL.

Overall, the Blackjack has far better sound and signal quality over my old Treo 650. In fact, it doesn't drop calls in the places where my Treo always did.

My Treo 700p on Verizon works great. The only things that don't work are the battery meter and Caller ID.

I can't complain.

Thumbs up New Blackberry 8800 from Cingular works great!

I upgraded my BB with Cingular from the 8700c to the new 8800. Just wanted to report that it works very well with my '04 TL!

I get the correct battery and signal status. It makes and answers calls flawlessly. The new 8800 has the option to transfer the address book too! I will do that one this weekend and let you know how it works. I need to clean it up first.

I have paired my new Treo 680 successfully but now everytime I get into the car, instead of the car and Treo syncing automatically, the car will give me a message "pairing process cannot be done from the phone"

Any ideas on how to get the two devices to pair properly everytime I get in the car?

My Sprint Samsung A900 works OK - I do not have signal or battery levels nor can I import my phonebook. I may move to the Blackberry or maybe even i-phone later.

Help! I just got a new cell phone. Samsung SGH-a707 and a 2007 RLS . I can't get the phone to set up. My phone does not see the RL as a bluetooth devise. I can't even get to the first screen in the pairing process.
This phone model is not listed as one that is compatible.
