30 Pin blutooth connector.

So I bought my TL used a few months back and I noticed in the glove box that there is an iPod/iPhone connector sitting in there. It seems to be running behind the nav unit. I can use it thru the XM mode with my phone plugged into it, but controlling is thru the radio is kind difficult. I bought this

blutooth adapter and plugged it into the wire in the glove box, but im not getting audio. Phone is pairing just fine, but the radio display still says "no Ipod". Has anyone used one of these successfully before?

I looked into those a bunch this summer. Some of these sort of things do work, but they always seem to have issues. The cheap ones like you got tend to not pass the steering wheel controls. The better ones still have pairing issues. I haven't heard of anyone getting a satisfactory experience out of the 30 pin dongles. Most folks seem to get the blackberry music gateway. Its about $50, pairs well, but only has a headphone plug out. That'll go right to your aux port.

That's the thing, I have the. 06 TL with nav, so I don't have an aux in. Right?

Right, but that 30 pin cable means that someone installed a isimple, or similar gateway that uses the XM radio. If you find the box it should have a port for a regular AUX cable as well. I have the isimple, and all the others are pretty similar.

Oh one thing to try as well- When you switch from any source to XM you have a few seconds to change the source on an isimple. Change to radio then to xm, use the tuning knob on the right to change source. It'll flash xm001,xm002, etc then flash the source. Yours is probably set to ipod. Try the other settings. I think AUX might work for you. I think there are 3-4 choice. Just keep playing back and see if any of them work. The source change disables after a few seconds, so don't forget to flip back to radio/cd then to xm if you want to try again.

The 30pin cable has two modes though. One is ipod, the other is for other devices. Maybe his bluetooth dongle will work on the other mode so he doesn't have to buy anything?

This worked! Thank you so much man, I set it to AUX1. I had no idea that I could even switch inputs like that. I thought I had lost xm while isimple was installed too. Hopefully anyone who wants a wireless option with the 06 and older will see this thread.
