Question about NAV, HFL and signal processing

Hello everybody!

I have a question to those who have installer processors. What happens to you HFL and Nav voice when you sum up the signal?

A little background:
I’m using MS-8 in my 09’ Ody, and until I installed it I though my 05’ TL’s stock system was great.
Well, as they say, live and learn. I’ve learned that it sucks, and I want my processing and time alignment. SPL is not needed, SQL is all I want.
Not being particularly into audio in general, I want something that auto-tunes. The downside is that I loose true 5.1 to a simulated one. Please correct me if I’m wrong, but there is no such processor that can do auto leveling of the signal on discreet channels, all of the ones that have discreet handling and offer auto-tuning (h800, 3sixty.3) can only do it after they sum up the signals, and if left discreet need to be tuned manually. Going on that assumption I’d rather stick with MS-8, even though it can’t work with discrete channels at all, it has a built in amp that provides plenty of juice for 2ohm aftermarket speakers. I will need to throw in a mono amp for the sub and that’s it! Alternatively if I go with a pure processor option I will need more amps and professional tuning, in that scenario the tab goes up at least 2-3 times. Is it worth the extra ~$1500 to be able to keep true 5.1? Considering my DVD-A collection that is just the demo disk … and the fact that I can only tolerate 1 track out of 20 on it, I don’t think so.

On the other hand is there a processor that can take stock mute wire and have my HFL and NAV work the same way as stock?
If such an option exists it will be a deal breaker for me.
If not, I’m really curious to know how my fellow TLer’s are coping with HFL an NAV being mixed through the processors.

thanks for chiming in!

great talking to myself!
anyhow, found a bunch of confusing threads on MS-8 in general
most by IHC milking his poor ms-8 all the way until throwing it out

learned that NAV will talk loud over all speakers, HFL will echo like a mofo on the other end of the line

is that about right?

some new questions came up based on the findings

1) any consensus on line driver requirement in pre-amp installs of MS-8 (or other processors)?
2) what inputs to use? (i've done it, and read the manual, it's written for 2-channel systems) 5.1 albeit with a DVD-A may output a rear left or right, that's not present in the fronts at all ... what does MS-8 play then? half the music? Or should i not even bother with DVD-A if i decide to abandon true 5.1?
3) this one is personally for IHC: can a complete idiot tune PS-8? how about a semi-coherent person, but with no metering equipment or expertise?

thanks!

didn't want to open new thread
does anybody have pics of how a 6.5" mounts in the center?

IHC says "with no modification", but when i took it out and looked at it, it felt like telling my wife she can make it out with an elephant "without any modification" ... may be not going in, but surely a handful of stitches coming out ...
