2006 TL, I want to add a sub and amp
In the 06 TL as we all know the sub lacks thump. I want to put in a 12" with an amp I have from my trade in . I think I need a low line converter that would tap into the existing sub speaker wire. That seems easy, but I need a signal for the amp to power it on. Where can I steal this from.
And any tips on pulling up the plastic trim in the door sills, as far as screw placement, clips etc...
Thanks

you might be able to find a turn on wire there also.
good luck

For a remote turn on signal, you can use a mini fuse tap at fuse #32 in the driver's kick panel. For your amp's main power, get it from your battery. Fused.
I used a high to low converter tapped at the stock sub's harness and kept it hooked up. The signal is clean but you'll definately need to use an amp with a built in crossover to keep out some off the mid bass.
The trim is pretty simple. You'll carefully pull up on the rubber seals by hand and use a panel popper to pry up on the plastic trim. Work them slowly to prevent the clips from breaking.

That's what I thought too. Power = from the battery, Signal = from the cable that runs in to the stock amps, but need a converter..
I'm getting my old sub in my car : fosgate 200 Watts RMS (400 peak) sub with fosgate 330 Watts RMS (900 peak) amp... I know it's not a lot, but I think it's it's enough and not too much. It will definitely make the sound better. I really hate putting extremely-too-loud bass in a luxurious car
After putting mine in this saturday, I will let you know.

So it looks like the easy way is to put the converter at the sub harness and pick up the remote via a fuse on the panel. What is a good guage wire to use for the amp?
I got a quote of $150 bucks at a local shop, is it easy enough to do or for that price let the pros do it?
Thanks for the help and does best buy sell those converters and is it a high or low that I need?

I also connected the converter right at the subwoofer but left the stock sub plugged in because the sub box sometimes has to come out of the trunk for extra storage.
My subs and amp are about 10 years old and were just sitting in a box in my garage. Last week I decided to put them to use. I even used my old 8ga. power cables. I only had to buy the LOC which was the blue Scosche SLC-4 from Walmart. They were the only store open at midnight when I did the install. It works well and I like the gain adjustment on it. It's a little overkill though because it is designed for 4channels. I'm only using 2 of the inputs and 2 RCA outputs on it.
I'm new at posting, how do I display/attach an image on the post?

people at my friend's shop blow fuses doing the fuse tap method...either a) get a relay or b) just tap off the stock amp's remote signal. Do this with the key in off position, easiest way to find it is to check all pins on the harness coming off the amp for a voltage. Then turn the key to the acc or on position, whatever gets your stereo on. Then check voltages on the pins again but this time disregarding the pins that gave you a voltage signal. You'll find a pin that gives ~12v. Thats your switched 12v aka remote wire. Have fun!
The stoc amp's remote signal is only 8V. My sub amp required 12V so it didn't work. I tapped the ignition wire under the steering wheel. It's the big black wire in the bundle of wires coming from the fuse box to the steering wheel.

re
how can you have both subs connected to the same converter??? arent they playing less power than they can since the voltage is split in half? IS the sound clear with the converter or is there hissing sound?
