Wow... Lots of crazy new LEDs from autolumination
Check there out:
All them are based off the 1W Surface Mount.
Cool, but pricey...
Dome/Door/Reverse/License Plate LEDs. (194/921)
http://autolumination.com/194.htm
Considering these for reverse lights...
http://autolumination.com/906.htm
7443/7440 front and rear turn signal towers:
[/IMG]
3W LEDS - Holy crap, It's like the sun.
These are old school, someone tried them out already, and they work good. I can't imagine how well the others work:
I wish I could get a sample of each for testing...

I'd like to try those new towers for front turn signals.

Try both the turn signals and reverse lights and let us know how they work out.

wouldn't that be better for the plates?

Umm, no you don't. the LED points directly at the lens where the light comes out.
I already have 1W LEDs (that look just like #2 and #3) in the license plate and they look great...
I've seen the cold cathode, and it doesn't look much different, and certainly isn't worth the effort hackjob you have to do to get it in... at least in my opinion. I've never understood the obsession with folks wanting to put TOO mucj light on teh rear plate.
The only reason I'm interetsed in #2-3 (1W leds like I have now) is they now come with metal heatsinks for "always on" usage (like the license plate) for longevity... but I haven't had a failure in 8 months with the 1W leds either...

Yes you DO need LEDs that spread the light around more. Like this: /|\ Coming out instead of just | . What hack job? Have you actually looked at the install? Because nothing is hacked. It is just sitting in there. And it produces about 5x more light than your LEDs will ever produce. That is also coming from someone who has tried many LEDs in his. Kracker on here can attest to that.

Excuse the dirtyness of the car, been raining. But here is the latest pic of the cold cathodes on my TL. Now 4-5 months old. Plus its pure WHITE light, not a blueish color that LEDs produce.
And one on a Sentra
This is what LED's from TekToys I believe its called look like

Yes, I've seen the install from the garage that did the cold cathode. It's a lot more effort than slapping a couple of these leds in.

Those tec-toyz leds are weak, that's why I'm using the 1W leds from superbrightleds.com are far superior.
I'll snap a photo tonight and show you how they look.
Here's what they look like:
LED I'm using is on the left:

Autolumination is the best
Ive used them for all 3 of my cars. Nothing but good products. Amazing brightness and wide span of light. Always recommend them. Shipping can be a little slow but worth the wait.

we actually need an LED bulb that, when installed, should aim at an angle back onto the license plate. straight aim LEDs, no matter how bright (I currently have the PIAAs) arent as bright on the license plate frame because, like i said, they aim away from the plate itself.
the first one is god because it has an LED that is actually facing inward (when that is installed), so i might give that a try

All of the LEDs that I've seen on the road and on pictures, they just don't look as appealing. Maybe with these bulbs can light up the plate more evenly. Also, does any of the guys/gals with the cleared headlights want to be the guinea pigs for the turn signal LEDs? (Mine aren't cleared yet or I would try them)

Order here: http://www.superbrightleds.com/cgi-b....10722&next=50
Order (2) WLED-WHP Pure White High Power
You need 4 more for the interior domes.
LED #2 and #3 on the 1st post of this thread are just upgraded versions of what I'm currently using.

Let's try this again.
They're NOT ricey blue bulb. They're tiny leds that look like this:
I've told you where to get them.
They're above the license plate. You can't see them when off, becasue they illuminate the plate.
I am also using these for REVERSE lights (which if they were blue tinted bulbs you'd be able to see), and they're bright, but not bright enough for tinted windows... which is why I'm thinking the 5 led cluster would be 5 times brigther = better.

i know what you meant. I was just wondering if they cast a blueish tint, since i bought these from autolumination:
and, although it said it was white, when i put it in the license plate light pods, they cast a blueish tint overall, but if you look at them directly, they are lit with a white color. i found it strange, thats why i asked you if yours had a blueish tint.
but i believe the 9.99 ones (the tower LEDs you had in your first post) look to be the better, brighter deal since they have high power LEDs firing at all directions. i may just get a set soon.
thanks!

But what i am afraid of is the complaints about LEDs that stop working all of a sudden. Any comments anyone?
Side note: Has anyone ran their cold cathodes for more than a year now? Wanna know if the cold weather would do anything to the transformers.

Tec-Toys actually ships THESE 1W leds for the license plate now, due to those failures.

I have clear headlights and are using these for the front corners. Look good and are bright. You guys think that any of the bulbs on superbrightleds.com or autoillumination.com are better than these?

those look nice! did you install a LED load equalizer? and do they show green through your cleared headlights? could you post some pics of them on and off?
