Both are MORE than bright enough. Anyhting brigther than either mod approach really is pushing the "tacky" envelope.

But so far out of every LED I have seen, the COLD CATHODE is the brightest/whitest light you will get so far. (I have yet to see these new ones in person though).

KRacker has had his for a year now I believe, I have had mine for at least 6 months. We had some serious cold weather here, down into the teens even. And my car had ICE all over it, coated solid and they still fired up without a problem.
LEDs also have shown problems like flickering, etc. That is why Kracker went this route instead. He already went through several sets of LEDs. Maybe these others will be better, but time will prove it.

These leds are solid units, not "wires and resistors" suspended in a plastic shell.
Time will tell, and has... I ran the 1W "zeros" for over 6 months (all over the inside and outside of the car), and never had a failure... The zero's replaced the crappty tec-toyz version. I have a bag of tec-toyz leds I wish i could get a refund on.
The #4's truly are awesome for license plate illum. VERY bright, even light, solid design, with a headsink. I just ordered another set for the wifes van.
I'm unsure why you'd want something brighter back there... It's distracting to those following, and may result in unwarranted "negative" attention.
I'll post a new pic tonight with all the new LED bulbs lit up.

hey Kennedy, how are those "zeros" for dome lights? I've been using those cheap-o tec-toys 9-LEDs over a year now, but I noticed from the day one, each of them produced slightly different color-tones. In fact, one of them were way too off to purple-ish color, so I had to return for an exchange. Are all "zeros" produce same color-tone?
Yea, I will post some pics of mine once I get it washed up or something.. or I can take un-washed pictures too

Yohan, the 1W "zeros" are great for the interior, they suffer none of the issues you describe, are notably brighter without being offensive, and create a nice natural bright white light without the purple hue. They're great, and can't speak anything negative about them.
Tony, the glovebox and console LEDS are 74 wedge base leds:

Some final shots... Fially bought the other #4 and #5 to complete the rear end:

If you havnt already, you should check out page 5. Kennedy, already tested out this bulb (#3) and it was the runner up. Kennedy said #5 bulb was the brightest.
I also order my bulbs..3 of #5 and 2 of #4.

Does anyone know if the bulb
WLED-WHP Pure White High Power
12 VDC Wedge Base bulb (194/168 type)
With High Power Pure White LED
(sorry i don't know how to link a picture just yet)
from www.superbrightleds.com is the same brightness as the #4 from autolumination? i want to get the #4's but the one over at superbrightleds looks very similar at half the price. i'm willing to pay for the brightness, but if they're the same then of course i'd rather pay half the price. anyone?

The LED you're asking about is called "zero" in this thread and was already compared. It's a great LED for the interior and license plate, but the #4 is superior for the license and the #5 is a MUST for the reverse lights.

i put the "zeros" in my license plate last night they look good ... they really shine nice if u have a wdp my friend has a black tl and they dont look as bright but still look good. It just looks better on a wdp
also put the "4's" in the reverse they also look good
i have the "zeros" in the domes and doors they look really good also, the only thing i have left that i want to do is putting the accord fogs in and changing the fog lights to whites. can anyone reccommend fog lights
ill try to post some pics up once i get the car cleaned up, whats up with this snow its march already
thanx kennedy, i recomend the same setup that i have and reading this whole thread car looks very sharp and havent had a complaint from anyone. therefore, anyone that i have talked to doesnt think it looks ricey or cheesy

wait Kappa...
I agree, Zeros in the interior is tip top. Zeros in the license plate is cool too, but #4 is better.
#4 in the reverse?, that's no good... to focused a beam pattern. You really should move the #4's to the license plate and order a set of #5's for the reverse lights.

We need to get some 1 watt ones for the interior that are 4-5 way directional like the #5. This would use the reflectors that are up in those lights to get more light down. The current 1W do not use the full reflectors but still produce a lot of light.

I agree with taking advantage of the reflector, but I tried the #5 in the overhead and it was just too much. If you had those #5's in there, and were driving down a dark road, that light would KILL your night vision.
The next guy that orders the #5's for thier reverse lights, feel free to try it out in your overheads to confirm my sentiments.

yea i would have to agree that the 5's would def be too bright for the inside. i couldnt see going any brighter than zeros in the car. I think zeros are def the cutoff.
plus the zeros have a nice white look too instead of a purplish color to it. On top of that to put the 5's in the inside would cost 40 bucks while the zeros would only be 20. Not that big of a deal but save a little cash for the same thing

The #5 is effectively 5 zero's mounted to one base. Niether the zero nor the #5 They don't suffer the purple tint issue like the 9led clusters...
The issue is purely, if the 1W zero is damn near too bright for the overhead light... multiplying that X5 would certainly be too much...

I put the #5's in the reverse lights yesterday. I had one of the original bulbs in my hand so I thought, why not put this for the trunk light. So I did. now my trunk lights up the night sky..

I didn't care for the "exposed look", they don;t look very "robust".

True...yeah...I cant spend anymore $$ on Leds either. After those and tech toys, I think i spent like $90-100 already.
Stupid question: Where do u get silicone you used?
Thanks again, Kennedy for trying those LEDs for us

I used clear silicone from home depot, which I had used when I finished my basement. Doesn't have to be anything special, clear RTV silicone from autozone, whatever.
If you have to remove the led, it just peels off... none of this permanent, the silicone just adds a little security.

My bad! I gotta stop posting in the wee hours of the morning. You clearly had a picture of it too in your post on page 5. For some reason I didn't see that. I'm pretty sure I'm not blind but now I'm not so sure....haha. My bulbs have been ordered...4's for the license and 5's for reverse and trunk as you recommended. Holding off on zero's for the interior since my six 9LED bulbs from Tec-Toyz all match in color (more bluish as opposed to purple) and are all still working great. Probably wait for one to burn out before I get zero's. I'm going to keep my 5LED multidirectional's in my vanity mirror lights for now too. I will also be scheduling my annual eye doctor appointment soon too. Thanks Kennedy.

My #5s are not bright!
I ordered a set of #5s for my back-up and when I was placing them in I tested them with the other side. The stock bulbs seemed brighter, and when I compare the look of mine to your pictures it doesn't seem right. I followed the directions about putting them in the right way. I can almost look into the reverse housing and see the ridges in the back. Is there something I am doing wrong. I like the color but they are not as bright as my stock. Help please. Sorry I don't have pics I can post some later if needed.
