Undergoing AT to MT Swap - Need help finding thread

I've googled searched, I've forum searched, I've gone through every page in mods section and still can't find it. I'm looking for the thread where the person made a AT to MT swap with notes and pictures.

I'm already in the process of making my car MT so i'm not here for opinions on whether I should or not. I just want this thread because there are walls I'm hitting and I want to verify that I have everything I need. My mechanic tells me I need axles but other reliable sources tell me I don't. So I need to confirm with users who have done this before

This helped but I'm looking for a more robust one. It was some's build here on azine. My problem is wiring the harness for the ECU removing the old one and putting the new harness . What needs to be removed to accomplish this and any other information.

Rollen, try using the Search Engine here on AcuraZine. Or do a Google Search, which will probably link you right back to this site.

6MT driveshafts are different. Instead of getting a new 6MT ECU, just get an 07-08 Base Auto ECU and Hondata to tune it.

That's really expensive when I could just replace the ecu and harness. I have everything I just need to learn where the points of removal are for the ECU/tranny harness are in the cabin and how to remove them with out ripping the entire dash out.

1000 in parts and 900 in labor for my 06 TL. Got everything at a great deal.

Since there is no real DIY notes for doing this I'm gonna write up my own and post it here when everything is done.

Please do.

Many, MANY moons ago I did this to my EJ1. It was a great experience, but something I told myself I probably wouldn't do again. Now you've got me thinking though...

Im sure doing this on a TL is much more complicated than an EJ1 though. All the 90's civics and integras have a bunch of interchangeable parts so you can have your choice of B or D series engines and respective transmission with no problem, and you can even put a K if you've got some $$$$.

The process is very simple and the part list are very small for a 04-06 Model TL 07-08 I hear have a whole new world. I bought everything used from a fairly young TL.

List of stuff I used:

6MT Transmission ( 04-06 trannies all fit the same so you can go up or down if you're buying used )
Clutch, Flywheel and don't forget the bolts for them, AT ones are short and you need the MT flywheel and clutch bolts.
6MT ECU
6MT ECU Harness
6MT Engine Harness (04-05 have different plugs then 06 so you might have to splice if you buy newer or older depending on your model so to save you trouble buy new for the model of your car)
Master Cylinder
Slave Cylinder
Clutch Lines
Clutch Pedal
Break Pedal
Shift Cables
Shift Lever (bezel for AT shifter works for MT but you'll need boot and knob)
Clutch Reservoir
Speedo Cluster (optional AT features will just be disabled and a MT one is not required)

Transmission mounts:
007 50670-SDP-A11 BRACKET, TRANSMISSION MOUNT (UPPER) 001 2004 32.80
022 50850-SEP-A12 RUBBER, FR. TRANSMISSION MOUNTING 001 2004 36.41
023 50860-SEP-A12 RUBBER, RR. TRANSMISSION MOUNTING (MT) 001 2004 84.14

Everything is literally take this one and replace it with that one the aluminum mount (upper engine mount) in front of the radiator can be cut down to fit or just by the MT one if you don't have the tools.

Harness runs from the bottom of the passenger foot well where the ecu is and runs to the center behind the nav and radio and then back down next to the brake pedal on the left by the foot rest.

There is no fabricating need just some drilling for the pedal. Axles and drivetrain are the same as AT, but MT axles are built better if you want them instead. While you are doing this I highly recommend buying all new mounts for engine and trans, bushings and the like to improve your ride while the tranny is down and kill 2 birds.

My write up for the 04-06 TL Manual swap is coming soon almost done with the car. I want to prevent headaches for any one who plans to do this in the future. The 06 TL wiring is different from 04-05 and 07-08 the 06 TL is a oddball and has a mesh of both worlds which made my 05 harness and PCM useless.

Thanks to Bruce (AckTL05) EndlessRPM who has helped me with obtaining some of the stuff it's been less of a headache.

I found one of the harness at a great price at www.ahparts.com and received it quick as well as packaged nicely. I would suggest check them out in the future.
