Is this removable?

So I looked at a NBP Type S earlier today and it had this black "sticker" type piece right below the rear passenger doors in front of the rear wheels. Here's a generic pic with an arrow pointed to the exact spot that it's located.

1. Does anyone know what it's for?
2. Can it be removed?

Possibly owner covering up some damage? Or he just put a sticker there?

Where the arrow is is just a painted surface on the side under-spoiler.

It could be taken off if its just a sticker, no telling whats under it.

Goo gone can help. Maybe ask what its there for?

OP is the sticker black or is it clear and you can see the NBP paint under it?

The protective stuff should be clear.

All TL's came with this from the factory it's just a clear bra on a area that's prone to debris being thrown up from the front tires. If you have a TL and its not there either someone peeled it off or the car was damaged at some point and repaired and it wasn't replaced.
Why peel it off? its there to serve a purpose and is basically invisible.

Oh lol, well in that case I have no idea that's odd. Unless his car is black and he just called it a black sticker when its really just clear and he's seeing the black paint underneath.

Are you positive? Maybe it's a TL-S or '07-'08 thing. I'm the original owner of my car and it does not have this stuff. Mine came with the mud guards, not sure if they would make a difference.

Well I suppose I can't speak of the 04-06's, but I have had a few Type S's and a base 07 and they all had it with or without splash guards factory installed. So I just assumed it was an 04-06 thing as well. I could very well be wrong about those years. I do believe the clear bra is listed as a part on Acura parts websites so it looks like it can be purchased, but I haven't looked to see if they list it under the 04-06 years

Yes, these are black and I noticed them because it was white around some of the edges so they were noticeable.

I learned something new, I had no idea those covers were a factory offering. I would have assumed they were in lieu of the mud guards but I guess not. It would be interesting if more '04-'06 owners chimed in to see if none or some of the early TLs had them.

I had the front of my car repainted at 70k once it was retired from commuter duty and the little flare on the front fenders looked almost grey (my car is black) from all of the chips. The rears haven't suffered like the fronts for some reason. I would have expected them to be worse.

Well actually I learned something new. So after thinking about it more the TL-S does have a more flared out side skirt so that got me thinking, maybe it is just a Type S thing. I looked at some old high quality pictures of my very first TL (07 base w/nav), and sure enough there are NO clear bra protectors on the rear part of the side skirt. So apparently its ONLY a Type S thing which makes sense because after comparing pictures that side skirt flares out more than on the base model. Sorry, I probably confused some people here, but atleast we got that figured out lol.
