Red Tail Lens replacement cost?
Red Tail Lens replacement cost?
Hi,
Thanks to the nasty windstorm the Seattle area had last week, I am down a van and a TL tail lens. A tree fell, crushing my poor van, and a branch from that wacked the passenger lens.
My Acura dealer apparently still has no power, I can't get through to them on the phone. Anyone know about how much a replacement lens is? I haven't looked through the garage docs on how to replace it, not sure I want to. I have a $200 deductable, and am not sure if its worth making a claim on my TL or not.
Thanks!
(I suppose you want pics.

That's the poor van, the TL lens is visible in this pic. Unfortuantely, my garage is full of remodelling stuff and shop tools, and I wasn't expecting the windstorm to be THIS powerful. Thats... all I can say in defense of not garaging my poor baby

I don't own a chainsaw, and they're pretty hard to come by up here right now. Once I dig the van out, I can have it towed. I'm afraid its enough damage to make it worthless, but not enough to total it.
I was glad my TL got out relatively unscathed though. I'm married to the van, but its the TL I sleep with at night.

lol, I think most of us here have that sickness too
You may want to check/post on the Black Market also. There are a lot of us that upgraded to the 07 Type-S Taillights and still have the old ones sitting around.

Awesome, thanks for all your posts. I decided that my deductable was $200, the new Type-S lights are $200, and someone already posted here how to install them... bah! I ordered me some cool new lights.
Thanks again!

Yeah, I originally asked about the originals, not knowing the Type-S lights had changed. (If I don't look, I don't buy.) But I DID look, and I decided to go with the Type-S lights, they have more character and I like how they look on Anthracite.
I live up on the plateueu in Sammamish (in Sahalee), and man. So many trees came down through people's houses in our neighborhood. I have a couple HUGE cedars (200+ years) I was afraid would cut my house in half, but fortunately the only tree to come down was one of those stupid shallow rooted hemlocks, and it hit the van, not my house. All in all, if a tree had to come down AND do damage, thats probably the best place for it to fall. Not the house, not my TL.
