07 Camry VS TL
07 Camry VS TL
I just test drove the 07 Camry, and OMG I can't believe a Camry can go that fast. I also bought the issue of Road and Track (Or was it C&D?) and it named the Camry as car of the year. It tested the SE model at 6.0 seconds on an auto - based on my test drive, I can safely say that the number is pretty accurate - it seemed way faster than the 06 TL auto that I tested.
PROS:
- Unbelievable engine and acceleration.
- Good transmission (6 speed auto)
- Good fuel economy
- Extremely serene ride quality
- Exterior styling
CONS:
- Steering is way to floaty - it was too touchy going at high speeds.
- I hate the interior with a passion. All plasticy and fake aluminum. YUCK. Green glass looking plastic knobs?? WTF!
- Body roll when cornering is much more noticeable than the TL
- No HIDs
To sum it up - the TL and Camry are both very good cars and both are known for their value. However, the test drive reaffirmed that the Camry is not in the same class as the TL. The TL is a much more refined car in general, and has much more of a "driver's feel" to it.
I do have to say though, the Camry is definitely the better value when each car is compared to the competitors.
(Yes, the TL is already 3 years old, I know.)
Acura and Honda is gonna really have to pull something out of their sleeve to compete with that new 3.5 Toyota engine.

lemme say 1st, there have been so many threads on comparing the 07 camry to the tl, this topic has been discussed all to often.
2nd, you keep talking about the regular acura tl and how much slower it is than the camry, i test drove both and my 06 6mt tl is about as fast if not a little faster...you appear to have a 07 TL-S according to your avatar, how is it that you never mentioned that since both cars are new for 07 and are both performance versions ie SE Type-S, the only major difference is the price

You need to do some more research on the car though. It has a faulty transmission among other flaws. toyotanation.com has a ton of complaints and people who want to get rid of the cars. It maybe C&D of the year, and quick, but it will fall apart way before the TL will. We had two 07 Camrys bought back.
This has been talked about many times on here before.

.the '06 TL 6MT is faster than the Camry SE. The Camry SE ranges from 6.0~ 6.1 sec. The TL 6MT can do 5.8 sec~ 5.9 sec. That's an average of 0.2 sec slower on the Toy. At 60mph that's about a car and half length, isn't it? Oh, and in quarter mile the TL 6MT is faster by 0.4 sec. The TL pulls further at high speed. Camry is whooped, sorry.
The '07 TL-S will also destroy Camry SE. '07 TL-S 6spd has the potential to do 5.3 sec? The review site says it should at least do 5.5 sec or better.
The TL has the better handling than the Toy. Like ya have said it's better refined car.
