Question Passenger side window shattered into door panel

For a while my passenger side window was a little loose but I did not think much of it. What i mean is if I drove with the passenger window down at all, it would sound like it was shaking.
Well I had just happened to pull into the drivethru of a food place and i accidentally rolled down the passenger window instead of the driver window. You know usually you just roll the window back up and go on with the day, but the window just fell inside the panel instead. I heard the glass break as well.
It is Sunday today so no places are open until Monday but how much do you think it would cost just to get one window fixed?

I am thinking of going to Safelite but I am unsure. I might compare prices tomorrow when stores are open. Thank God I have an off day tomorrow.

Right now I have on those temporary mirror plastic things you put over the car window because I work at Walmart today and I dont want my window just open like that when its sitting in the parking lot for 8 hrs and it has been raining too.

Since you do not state what year your car is, I randomly picked 2006 TL.
The link below shows the OEM prices for the front door parts for that year to give you an idea of cost.
Front Door Glass - Door Regulator for 2006 Acura TL | Delray Acura Parts (acuraoemparts.com)
If you can find a salvage yard, on car-part.com, near you that has a similar car, you may be able to save some $$ depending on your mechanical ability.
Good Luck!

That sucks. Good luck with getting it fixed. You'll soon be back to normal. I once had a Porsche 914 where the passenger window completely shattered when the door was closed and glass went all over the inside of the car! The door was not slammed at all either. In my case, there was no warning of any problem being present beforehand. Things like this just happen sometimes. You get them fixed and move on.

Thank you! Sorry about that my car is 2005... I just got an appt made to get it fixed for $200! Which is great because Safelite was asking for $350

if you have a youpick junkyard it will be substantially cheaper and you'll get some experience out of the deal, to boot...plus, practice pulling on a car
that isn't yours so you see how everything goes together.

Agreed that would probably be the cheapest.

OP, I've never done a TL but have done a few Hondas, all you will likely have to do is remove the door panel and raise/lower the window with the switch until you have access to the 2 bolts holding the glass in. There's a chance you might have to remove the belt molding to get the glass which can be pretty stubborn and sometimes bend/break but you might not have to. Another concern if you go the junkyard route is if you can get a key for a junkyard car and have some way to jump the battery or window motor if no key since you will have to roll the window down partially to get to the bolts. Overall it's a pretty easy job though if you're comfortable removing a door panel you should be fine replacing the glass yourself. I'd be willing to bet there's nothing else wrong with it and the bolts for the window were just left loose/worked their way out.

That's what I would have done, not to mention the free practice on another car lol
the glass is held by like 2 bolts only.
haven't had to do one since owning a BMW lol but at the junkyard, you'd have to remove the motor assemby (possible with honda regulators?) And the window will move without power. Otherwise find a way to cut the cables to move the bolts into view.

Yeah good point, that would probably be easiest
