This may be a dumb question but I'm gonna ask anyways. You said for us to make sure we typed in the right memory key... does it really matter which key we say? Are there specific differences between the unmilled keys if it is mem 1 or mem 2? Wouldn't the dealer just be able to program the remote/immobilizer if you give them either stock key?

I hope I am making sense...

I found this through a link from the TSX area. I'll join if I know for sure that it'll fit perfectly for the TSX (since the TSX has had problems in the past not accepting keys that will fit in a TL).

 

I will be sending the remote part to, and the TL's have the memory seats function. the coding for the memory positions are built into the remote and cannot be changed by the dealer or user. Memory 1 keys will ONLY operate the memory 1 function when you unlock your door, Memory 2 will ONLY operate the memory 2 function when you unlock your door.

the difference is made by the remote manufacturer in the programming. The dealer will be able to program the immobilizer and cut the key, but the coding for memory one or two is built into the remote and cannot be changed.

For those with TSX's, I am sorry, But I ask that you please remove yourself from the List as I want to be 100% sure that the keys will work. I will buy and mill a key at my expense and test fit it to a local TSX. I am sorry for this.

 

TSX guys don't need to remove themselves as I KNOW for a fact that they'll work 100% just like TLs. Exactly the same.

I'm gonna take a shot at this....I believe the transponder freq. is proprietary to memory 1 or memory 2...that way the receiver in the car knows what to do depending on what key fob gets used. Calls for different remotes/fob. Sorry if my terminology is incorrect, but you get the gist.

FYI when you test a milled key on a TSX, check all the keyholes (lol, I said holes)... I've heard of ignition/door being ok and trunk/glovebox not fitting right... yes, with the same key. Sensitive little buggers, aren't they?

 

I hope not, the TL ones work with all the cylinders in the car, but I will pay for a key to be milled and cut to a specific tsx here and will test it in all the locks. One quesition with the key not fitting, was the key to thick or wide to fit or did the key fit, but not turn the lock?

 

It was an issue with the grooves in the side of the key, I believe... but I guess it would be hard to tell since you can't see what's going on in the lock cylinder. It would go in partially and get stuck, or you could wiggle it in and not turn the lock. If you are getting them milled, I would take a blank stock TSX key so they can make sure thickness, width, etc are all on par. If someone is milling keys and can't take exact (minute) measurements, they probably shouldn't be milling keys. And, the TL ones fit all cylinders because they are laser cut and don't need to be milled, right? Plus, the switchblades are made specifically for the lock cylinders in the TL. Playing God with keys/locks is hard, man!! But do it!! I want a 'blade!!!

So wait, your asking all the TSX'ers to take themselves off the list if they don't wanna take the risk of having a bad key correct? What if i wanted to stay on the list because im confident it'll work. Not trying to be hard headed or anything i just feel that it'll work for sure.

 

If you want to buy the key, the more power to you. I just don't want to end up in the hole when people come to me saying that they key doesn't fit, refund my money, after it's cut and programed. Like I said before, I am not making any money on these keys. I'm trying to help out the community.

 

A milling shop, my friend's uncle works there and they have done some amazing work. I knew about this and recently put 2 and 2 together when I was showing my friend the key, he had just bought a TL and was asking where I got it from....
