It's you. I guess black, white, reds and blues are also played out. Popularity of almost all colors comes and goes. Silver is currently more popular than it has been, though. The popular colors always seem to be at the top of the lists. Others, such as greens, aqua, and browns, come and go.

Silver has been real popular color lately but its not "played". if you see a silver TL and it looks good then that's it. some people here like desert mist and deep green pearl. personally i don't like those colors but its attractive to their owners. i think that there are certain colors for that the design of the car goes nice with. for instance you will not see a yellow camry or accord. but you will see a yellow porsche or even is300. even for the acura commercials they use the color that is most appealing to people. believe me they do studies and figure out which color car in the commercial will attract the most people. All the commercials feature a silver car. the billboards here only have silver and anthracite colored TL's. In fact when you look at the poll of what color car you think is the best it was anthracite, silver then white.

I have a silver/ebony and I love it.
The key to any car is to keep the paint looking good. Zaino is my suggestion to do so - the ClayBar is awesome in restoring the brilliance to a paint finish. No, I don't have any interest in Zaino.
I'll tell you, I had the hardest time picking a color for the TL. I could have taken any of them - I found none offensive. Did anyone else have this problem?

Silver is a really nice color till you need a panel repainted. It is the most difficult color to match and I spent 5 yrs with a poorly matched silver car that drove me crazy. The problem with silver is the metallic flakes are at a certain angle when applied by the factory and the angle is never the same when a body shop repaints. Hence the silver color reflects the sun differently on the repainted area. I would rather wait 3 months for a non silver 6 spd with navi then get a silver one off the lot at a lower price. I swore off silver.

I think this is true of any metallic color, actually. I had a metallic red Toyota and had the same problem with a repainted panel. And all the TL colors are metallic, aren't they?

Of course the body shop will say they can match it 100%. What are they gonna say we can 95% match it. My only advice is make sure you have a top notch body shop with an experienced painter or else you will be in deep do do if you are anal about your car (no pun intended). I can usually tell which silver cars have been repainted.

I agree silver cars are a royal pain to match and to have a repainted panal on a brand new car is a double whammy. And no, not all matallic colors are this hard to match, silver and white to a lesser extent are special. A body shop should have much less difficulty matching say the blue or anthracite.=)

silver is beyond played. pn the german marques you expect it because its the racing color of germany. but so many wannabe luxury cars are marketed and shown in silver that its played out totally. dark blue is much better and I wish acura would look at the bmw orion blue metallic and do something similar. besides there are so many shades of silver that you cant really even generalize. even though I just did.

I ordered my TL in January to replace my silver 00 Avalon XLS which was coming off of lease this month. Just after I ordered my car I got hit in the rear quarter panel, trunk and rear bumper. The repairs to the Avalon ran about $5,000. I was actually amazed at how well they matched the the colour. I couldn't see any difference in the paint even in bright sunlight. I don't know if it makes any difference but I had the repairs done at a Toyota dealer. Hopefully, I won't find out if they can match the paint on my SSM TL.
BTW two weeks before my lease was up on the Avalon the engine sludged (second time, 00 Avalons have a bit of rep for sludging) and I turned it in early. It clearly needs a rebuild but I suspect the dealer just auctioned it off as is. It worked out ok for me because I was able to get my TL two weeks earlier.

Silver is definitly played out! i work at an Acura dealership...and the new silver replacemnet for most people seems to be the Anthracite TL. Thats the hot color along with Black, Blue and
silver(to a lesser degree). BTW, we have an inventory full of silver TL's whereas the other colors many times have to be swapped in or pre-ordered.
