Thumbs up

Should be easy enough, it's nothing fancy, just look in the manual and find out what bulbs they are and then where to find them. Looks good though, let's us know what you find out!

details

Please give details on how the guy with the TSX did it. These are LEDs...and certainly not plug and play with a normal light bulb!

What he said:

www.superbrightleds.com

Quantity Product
3 3022-4 LED Festoon bulb Blue (Dome replacement)
2 T13-B6 Blue LED bulb (Door replacement)

That's what I ordered, easy to replace, I used a kitchen knife to pop of the light covers, that's all. Make sure that the led bulb is pointing downward in the dome light.

You should try 6led in the dome and 4 in the door, or if you want it nice an bright in the cabin just go with 6led for the dome light and 6led for the doors as well.

I will take some pics of the bulbs and post them.

They are pretty easy to install just look in the manual for directions to remove the covers without damaging them. I put blue in my door and red in the rear seat area.

I think the doors look sharp. Nice idea you picked up.
I won't be swapping the dome light for me, only the door lights.

Thanks for the interesting post.

I think like the posters who feel it has a rice type of look, but to each their own. The doors don't look bad though, but I'd need to see them in person.

Just ordered mine...

I went ahead and decided to try this since it is plug n play and I love LEDs I ordered the 2 T13s for the Doors in Blue and ordered 2 of the 3022-4LED for the Dome, but I got these in white to see if they don't look any better than the stock bulbs. I also ordered 2 more of the 3022-2s but with 2 white LEDs instead of 4, that way I will have another set if the back domes use the same bulb or if the front 4 LEDs are too bright. Good cheap mod for under $20 (they only charge $5 for shipping no matter what you order so make up a list and stock up!)

Cool website though, all kinds of bulbs and colors without ridiculous prices!

I looked thru all the documentations that came with the 04 TL, including the owner's manual, did not see any instructions to replace the interior lights. Also, no info on the types of replacement bulbs, I think this info should be in the spec charts near the end of the owner's manual, like for my other cars. The spec chart only lists the output of each bulb type used, in Watts or Candle power.
Did I somehow missed these info? If so, appreciate anyone point out to me where (which page) in the manual.

Side note, 03 TL owner's manual has a lot more pages than the manual for the more technologically advanced 04 TL, go figure. It has instructions for replacing the interior lights, but I didn't see the list of replacement bulb types either. Maybe the 04 TL's interior lights are so userfriendly, we don't need instructions?

They must be just standard bulbs and not LEDs since they look bad. LEDs make a huge difference in the color!

I was under the impression that they are already LEDs? Seems like I read it in the sales brochure somewhere.

Since the lens for the rear turn signals are red, if you you put amber bulbs inside, the light output will be some sort of orange color.

I think there will be some after-market tail-light assemblies that have clear turn signal lens soon. As one member here posted a thread about a group order of this tail-light housing from a manufacturer he contacted in China. Also, since the A-spec Concept car has clear rear turn signal lens, maybe it will be on the 05 TL's, if so, they'll be available as OEM parts, provided the 05 & 04 tail lights are interchangeable, as often the case with most recent production cars.

nice LED info for the doors!
I like the look a lot.

has anybody installed LED lighthing in the engine compartment ?
old cars used to use mercury switches (which is a no-no now),
so how do you make the LED's turn on and off automatically when you open the hood?

I like to have blue and white (selectable) LED's for the engine lighting when I open it. - thanks all for your postings.

I used to see older American cars with lights under the hood, basically a 12V bulb wired to the alternator/battery, thru a switch that's normally open when pushed in (by the hood when closed), similar to the light in the trunk, some wired thru the parking light switch (such as 85 Olds Ciera). This may not be a good idea as you might not want to have the engine on when checking under the hood, & you don't want to drain the battery if hood is open for long time, with most of the lights on. The LED's requires some additional circuitry, but the priciple is similar.

There are multi-color LED's you can buy from Radio Shack etc, but I don't think any direct bulb replacement LED's are multicolor. It'll be an interesting project to design & assemble; maybe even small production quntities for a niche market.

Just pop off the cover, pull out the bulb, and replace with the new LED bulb, it's that simple literally. The hardest part of the whole install is getting the covers off and that really isn't that hard

T13-B6 Blue LED bulb
12VDC Blue 6-LED Wedge Base bulb
measure 1 1/8 long by 1/2 inch maximum diameter (194/168 type)
$ 2.99

just making sure....is this the right bulb to purchase for the 04 TL...for the doors?

i think blue would be the hottest since most of the interior lights are blue
