transmission fluid level-weird question

My 2014 has 275,000 km on it and I have been changing the tranny fluid about every 100,000 km. as per the MM
(in US speak, that's 172,000 miles and 63,000 miles respectively)
It will be due for the next trans fluid change in about 15,000 MILES
This morning it was barely shifting and when it did, it was extremely harsh...the shifting action was very very sluggish and inconsistent
The fluid level was perfect, right at the upper mark. I disconnected the battery to reset the computer and added about 1 cup of fluid.
Problem is now gone.
Just wondering if anyone else has encountered a similar situation where adding a little extra fluid solved the same problem....?

When you say you've been changing the transmission fluid, what technique have you used?

When checking the fluid level did you look at both sides of the dipstick? From my experience I look at both sides and whichever side is the lower level that's the one I pay attention to. One side of the dipstick usually contacts the wall of the curved dipstick tube and when removed this will smear the fluid on that side so it's an invalid level reading. Was the fluid warm and was the fluid level checked within the 60-90 sec timeframe after engine shut off?

Yes I check both sides several times to be 100% sure of the level. And I only did a drain and refill, took about 3.8 litres...yes I know that doesn't get all the fluid out. At 15 bucks USD per quart I will take my chances. I just did it 30 minutes ago, it looked a bit dark. I am almost certain the problem will be solved. It seems good at the moment. I will plan to drain/refill in another 50,000 miles. Or less. I want to drive this thing till it hits 360,000 km

perfect function is restored. I plan to drain and refill every 50,000 km now. I wonder if my RDX ever got the software update to fix the fluid cooling functionality,

Some months after a transmission fluid change, on a very cold day, my 2016 AWD base started the harsh judder and even went into limp mode. The next day I started looking things over and found the ATF a little low. My shop added half a quart and all was fine afterward.

Later I realized the level on the dipstick was a bit high. I went to the trouble to drain a small amount so the level was perfect. I was surprised at the improvement in shifting--more crisp up or down, better response. I think these cars are really touchy to transmission oil level. I also change it every 50K miles, the short 3.8L version.
Just my 5 cent experience!
