leave me alone..

Its only been 3 days since i got my TL, and I've already had 2 guys trying to race me. The first time I raced an IS300.. no big deal.. He was in my rear view mirror in no time.. Today, some RSX pulled up next to me and started doing some weird sh..t. He kept on revving and he was making me deaf cause of his exhaust. But then he did something and I saw some mist coming out of the sides of his car making this psssssssssst sound. I just scratched my head and watched him take off when the light changed. But then just one thing really bothers me. Why would you put a stupid Nike sign on the back of a fixed up RSX type S? volk TE37s, Black widow 2 kit, and Nike sign on rear window?.. Maybe his crew is Team Nike..

out the sides of the car though? Its injected in the air intake, so i guess it could back up through the box, but it wouldnt come out the sides. If it was nos i think you would have noticed. If he rigged his system to spray unignited nos out the sides he blow himself up, which would look cool, but could send shrapnel out scatching your TL.

Got some info. Purging releases extra gasses in line through a valve. http://www.holley.com/HiOctn/ProdLin.../PurgeVlv.html

You are correct,,,,

If that is what it was anyway... A purge system alleviates any air/vapor in the NOS lines thus a pure burst of NOS the moment you hit the beast.. It's basically an additional valve that vents the NOS outside of the engine compartment. On the street it's used way to much for "show" than for necessity. Even on my 750+ HP beast you couldn't tell the difference between purged and not. At worst you would loose one , maybe two tenths of a second due to a moment of your fuel/NOS mix being "rich" on the fuel side etc. The one time I did always purge was right after swapping a NOS bottle - but even then it was just a blip of the switch to fill the line to the valve....

To me a purge system of this type/use is just a waste of NOS..... 5 second drag cars in pure competition sure, but not here...

Yeah..it can def attract races. Some guy in a WDP TL tried to race my last night...we were on a one lane road, and the second it turns to two lanes, this guy takes off...so I hop in behind him, then my friend steve joins in (he was in front of me) by this time we're all doing 60-70 in a 35....Steve and I decided to backoff..I'm all game for a little fun, but even that speed in a 35 is downright dumb....guy in the TL is way ahead doing an easy 90 in a 35..

this is on a road with a fair number of other cars, 2 lanes in each direction and stop lights everywhere

If the RSX S model had all the toys in it, super charger etc... it can push out some serious power and could give you quite a run.

Get used to people trying to race you in the TL... I am pretty used to it since back when I got my 01 S model, people used to see that the car had 17s and the S on the back and instantly wanted to see what the car would do. I got it mostly from the non S CL and TL models... Maybe a rather real world test from those guys as to whether they should have shelled out some extra cake for the S.

I get it less now... except from an occasional person in a civic. The evos and the subies generally do not mess with ya because they know they got you beat...

Funny how it is usually the idiot in the lesser car (with mods) trying to see how well their machine stacks up against yours... Or, the king of the hill dude trying to flex their muscle and tell you who is the boss. If you ignore these people you will no have any issues. But you do get the idiot now and then that cuts you off or rides your tail... Street racing is very dangerous

I prefer to do it on the track

I get a lot less race attention now than when the car came out in '03. My policy was and is to ignore all, and let them take off. They can write about how their stickered up Hyundai Excel "Type-R" beat an '04 TL all they like, I don't care.

I'm with you, cornelius....leave me alone! I just wanna drive.

N2O actually isn't flammable -- it can't be ignited. Common misconception.

While I agree the NSX is fast, and it looks stunning, for the money it is not as fast as it needs to be. Similar performance can be obtained in a cadillac sedan nowadays!

Granted it does NOT look anywhere near as nice, but it will save you 50k and has a higher wife acceptance factor (WAF) because it is a sedan!

Cadillac CTS-V performace:
0-604.80 sec.
1/4 Mile13.20 sec.

I hadn't noticed this happening until I read about it on this board. Since then, I've noticed it a few times and I either ignore them, except if I have to avoid getting hit by them, or I use a trick someone here mentioned: When stopped at a light and they rev their engine, I rev mine back and let them think we're going to have a run. When the light turns green, I accelerate slowly up to the speed limit and set my cruise control. Let them get the ticket and burn 1500 miles of rubber off their tires.
