No, he's just increasing his post count. It helps him feel better after taking his Slomero in to the shop for the 3,000th repair.

I see that this thread has come back to life, providing some comedy.

According to Mr. youknowwho:

FACT: TL is worth only $3000 more than the Accord.

FACT: Base TL cannot be had for less than $2500 over invoice. Those who say that they did are liars.

FACT: HID lamps are over-rated.

He lives in a world where he thinks his OPINIONS are facts, that he is unbiased (LOL), and everyone else's opinions are "BIASED, factually incorrect."

I must say I admire his mulelike stubborn persistence in the face of an obviously losing battle.

You've never driven a REAL performance car, "Adam."

And you have no understanding of profit margin and how Acura is able to make a lot more money per vehicle by adding nickel and dime stuff to an Accord and dressing it up in different sheetmetal.

I'm new to this board, so I'm not quite up to speed on everyone's angst directed toward HD. But here's what I've come to realize:

First, HD you make some good points. Two good friends of mine had/have Camaros are they're good cars for what they are. I mean, you're right, they're fast, handle well, can be modded up the yin-yang and are relatively inexpensive, but the build quality isn't there. Of course, one doesn't buy it for build quality or the interior. But you keep making the same argument over and over, which gets tiresome and annoying.

Second, why are you here? You don't own a TL or even an Acura? Why do you find it necessary to argue with everyone on here?

Fact: The TL produces 18 more drive wheel HP than the new Accord V6, but the TL is 191 pounds HEAVIER.:wow:

Fact: The TL is seriously under-damped for a "sport sedan" and exhibits profound torque steer in the lower gears...

"Everyone" on here isn't arguing with me...

And you need to review the utterly IGNORANT posts that others have made, which spawned many of my subsequent posts.

Well, the only IGNORANT posts I've seen are by someone named harddrivin1le.

To be fair, not ALL of his posts are ignorant, just some.

That's a pretty dumb statement. The last generation Camaro was pretty performance oriented.

No ignornace...the Slomero was a plastic P.O.S. I'm glad it was cancelled by GM. If it was so great and sold so well, they would still be making it. I'm not the only one who those it was crap...GM thought it was crap. A friend of my has a 98 SS 6SPD and while quick, it's a rattle box pile that's been to the dealer 8 times for warranty work including 3 throwout bearings and a rear-main seal. The fit and finish is so poor you can fit your fingers between the door and the jam with the door shut. The T-Tops leak water, the doors won't seal (air noise while driving), the driver door sags and you have to slam it to close it and the rear hatch stopped staying up a year after he bought it. He doesn't even beat it that bad and the rotors always warp no matter how nice he is to them. And it cost him $27K. There is simply no excuse. Performance or not...it's a total piece of crap.

This is way off the original topic but I'll bite. What exactly makes them NOT a performance vehicle? Are they cheaply made: yes. Would I buy one: no. It was made for people looking mainly for an inexpensive powerful car. My best friend still has his and enjoys it for what it is and it will outperform a lot of Hondas or Acuras on a drag strip or a road course. On the flip side, it is a GM, everything inside is plastic, it's uncomfortable, loud and, in my opinion, ugly, but to each his own. Obviously, most if us don't care about the Camaro because we're looking for something different. Of course, I have no friggin' idea why I talking about a Camaro here.

This is the whole problem. The statement that harddrivin1le is arguing against was never made by anyone here, yet he based a whole thread on it and is arguing with everyone based on a figment of his imagination.

Also, a statement like "the HIDs on my TL are the best lights I've ever had" is NOT a statement that "Halogens suck", though for the purposes of perpetuating this thread harddrivin1le will make that illogical leap.

Who the H*LL appointed you chief inquisitor?

I drove two TLs...

The dealer acted like they were giving me the world by offering a whole $500 off MSRP.

Then I discovered that the dealership wanted an EXTRA $6,000 (parts and labor) to install the parts (A-Spec) that SHOULD come standard on the car to begin with or, at the very least, be offered as a reasonably priced factory option.

It was at them time that I decided to keep my 1LE/LS1 Z28 and pick up a new Accord EX/V6 (which I've subsequently installed decent rubber on).

So while I like the TL in general, I'm disgusted with the way in which they're chosen to market the A-spec package.

Get it?

The interior sucks...

I immediately replaced the driver's seat with a new Recaro...I can live with some compromises for $21,300...Mine is a 1LE 6 speed Z28; Chevy built 66 of them for the entire model year, which was also the last year the 1LE pakage was offered as a factory/RPO option.

Here's a '98 1LE...Looks like a "performance car" to me...Check out the video.

Me too.

That's why I obtained an '04 Accord EX/V6 and put some rubber on it.

The Camaro is available when I want to feel experience performance.

With the exception of this post, don't expect me to acknowledge crap like this...
Who is asking you or cares?

People can't accept fact based reality and resort to personal attacks if such reality conflicts with their own, BIASED, factually incorrect "opinions"...
ALL PEOPLE believe in what they choose to believe, your opinion of what's fact WILL DIFFER with what others believe. what we don't get is why you can't accept that people don't agree with you.

Do people's eyes glaze over when they talk to you? :banghead:

It seemed SLOOOOOOOOOOOooooooowwwwwwwww compared to my Z28 6 speed....
The Z28 doesn't feel like a Viper either, but I highly doubt a guy driving one would compare the two.

The Z28 SHOULDN'T "feel like a Viper" because a Viper costs $80K plus...:wow:

On the other hand, the Z28 gets comparable mileage to a TL, makes a lot more power and is less expensive...All that with 1 cam in block, pushrods and a mere 2 valves/cylinder...

The Viper has a lot of punch...It's also got the "show" to match, which makes driving a Viper fast on the street virtually impossible.

In fact, the previous gen Viper (450 HP vs the new model's 500 HP) had enough punch to make a good running but "unmodified" (wink, wink) 426 Street Hemi look pretty sad. ('66 - '67 street hemis were lucky to crack 300 RWHP in bone stock condition, even after a good dyno tune):

1 + 1 = 2.

Those who "don't agree" are WRONG, regardless of what they "believe."

People on here have made bogus claims about Lexuses that are just flat out WRONG! The Mark Levinson "radio" alone does NOT cost "$5,000"...The LS430's V8 DOES use variable valve timing...The ES330 DOES use unique body panels...and so on...

Those are FACTS that aren't subject to "opinion."

I've never even OWNED a Lexus. That doesn't mean that I'm going to start lying about the brand.

In my opinion, the low-beams in the 04 TL are dangerous in hilly twisty back road terrain. I actually noticed this on my test drive but bought the car anyway knowing that liberal use of the other lights might overcome some of the problem and that the 'into the woods' reach of the low-beams made it far more possible to pick up the deer.

As for the acrimony in this thread, I take serious issue with the folks with the non-responsive bitmaps that add nothing to the discussion.

harddrivin1le,

I'm done with this because you're the type of person who is alone in a conversation of many. You wait for the person to finish while ignoring his point just so you can take the few words you wanted to hear so you could continue to argue. Why, because in your mind only you could be right, ever.

Actually, I'm still ROLLING ON THE FLOOR LAUGHING about your claim that "stock" 1969 396 Chevelles produced "335 RWHP."

Imagine that. The 396 Chevelles made nearly TWICE the RWHP of their similarly powered/rated GM A-body GTO/442 cousins, yet the Chevelles weren't ANY faster....

You were actually under the impression that those old HP ratings (pre 1972 SAE GROSS) were REAL!

So you took the "375 rating," subtracted the "accepted" 40 HP (for driveline loss") and came up with 335 HP.

Now I'm sure that you can find some joker who is running in an amature "stock" drag class in 2004 who CLAIMS that his "stock' 396 produces that kind of power...Thing is, that ain't stock.
