Acura designed our ECU's in a very smart way (they have been doing that)....so when 1 bulb fails the Relay starts sending hyperflashes to tell the user "hey one of the bulbs have failed"....
now bulbs offer higher resistance than LED's....so when you replace the bulbs with LED's the Relay things "oops one of the bulbs is blown" coz the overall resistance of the circuit goes below the threshold....
now there are 3 ways to avoid hyperflashing:
1> do not use LED's....use the bulbs
2> if you use LED's you can wire load resistors as illustrated in this thread:
https://acurazine.com/forums/3g-tl-2004-2008-93/how-install-led-resistors-lots-pictures-3g-garage-g-079-a-637923/
3> if you use LED's you can change the relay by adding resistance so that the hyperflashing is solved as illustrated in this thread:

not trying to be rude here buddy but do you understand why it hyperflashes ???

But I don't think it's just HONDA that designed their signals to hyperflash for this reason. AFAIK, almost all car make turn signals will hyperflash when it detects a bulb out, or a bulb about to fail.
I do see a shit ton of other cars that hyper flash and they are just about everything but honda/acura

^^^ you bet....i didnt wanna confuse and already confused guy
besides i didnt wanna go off topic....i could keep going on about DRL's and brake bulbs....how different manufacturers have different settings and different resistance threshold....

someone post up the thread that gerzand made on making the relays to make your oem sidemarkers flash. I have a feeling that's what this guy is after.

So i'm not sure if this is related at all, but after doing the mod over a half a year ago, my turn signals/4 ways have been cutting in and out. Today on the way home, they stopped all together and i was not able to get them to work. I will be pulling the module later to see if something came loose. Anyone have any ideas of what's going on with this?

False alarm. One of my solder points somehow came loose (make sure that shit is soldered good and tight). So I re-soldered the one leg and all is well.

Are people still having random and unexplained issues caused by this resistor mod? I thought it was a proven method before reading through all of the posts (thats 4 hours I am never getting back).
With my luck I will end up screwing this and electrical issues are the one thing I do not want to deal with.

This thread is super helpful, I'll be doing this when I get my smoked tails from USR.
Sorry to ask but 20 pages is A LOT to read through, has anyone confirmed that this mod will work for all 4 corners? I plan on doing switchbacks and then red LED's I have to use for the tails. Well...I don't have to use LED's but I'd prefer to because they are brighter and they'll match the taillights.

There are 2 different resistors to choose from. IIRC you use a .12 ohm resistor and that will cover hyperblinking for 2 sets of LEDS (switchbacks). If you plan to have all 4 LEDS (all 4 corners of the car) use a .24 ohm resistor.
I put in a .24 ohm resistor from the start and my switchbacks weren't cutting power to the white when signalling and 'switching' back until I put leds in the rear to match.
That is all.

So I think I've read more than half of this thread, but did anyone figure out an easy way to remove this relay box from the interior?
And to go along with BBA's question above, are people mostly seeing success with this and no consequences, and its only a few that are having problems? All I'm doing is switchbacks, not touching the rears, so I ordered .12ohm resistors from digi-key.

Thanks for the info. Just picked up a set of the VLED switchbacks. Wasn't planning on it yet, but you guys talked me into it.
If anybody else is in the market for buying LEDs, V-LEDS has a 25% off of $150 for the month of May.
I can already hear the wife's bitching:
"What was wrong with the old lights?"
-Nothing honey, these are just better.....
"But the old ones worked just fine"
-Yeah but these ones are much brighter and look better
"But you spend a lot of money"
-Shouldn't you be in the kitchen.....

Just used a .12 ohm resistor for my switchbacks and everything worked just as it was supposed to! These look awesome with my LED DRLs. Thanks everyone for all the info! MUCH better than load resistors.

Don't be too hasty to say "everyone". I have spent over $100 trying to get this mod to work including buying new resistors, new relay, and new bulbs. My soldering skills are well above par. My rear LED turns have worked fine every since I did this mod. However, my fronts (Type 2 switchbacks) would work fine for about 5 mins of use, then: amber turn on right side, with blinking white on the left AT THE SAME TIME! I've tried everything I can think of short of using inline resistors. So yeah, I know I'm not the only person to have strange issues with this mod.
If you F-up your stock hazard/turn relay. The one from VLED's would be a much cheaper solution. I think the one from the dealer cost me about $50.00.
