Hey All,
My 07 TL is showing p0455 and p0456 and now it is sluggish the first start after getting gas. It starts and revs up and down and shakes. It is just the first start after getting gas. It is good all other times. I have replaced the purge valve and the gas cap. My tighten gas cap warning comes on when the check engine light is not on. It doesn't come on when the light is on.

Is there a way to test to see if my purge valve is faulty again. I replaced it last year and it was good for about a month. I am hoping to get a evap smoke test when I am on vacation next month. But wanted to see if I can test the purge valve.

Thanks all

Yea I cleared them. I clear them once a week and they stay off for a day or so. The tighten fuel cap light comes on when the cel is off.

Thanks

Did you replace the purge valve with OEM or an autozone special?

Got it from autozone online. I believe it was no more than $50.

Is there a way to test the purge valve while still on the car or test to see if it is opening/closing?

Thanks all for the help. I haven't found a good mechanic here yet and the ones I have called keep saying the smoke test isn't worth it because its just an air leak.

I tested my purge valve today and it seem to be working. The valved opened after a couple minutes of idleing.

Looks like a smoke test is next.

Thanks all

If the smoke test revealed no leaks, it's probably a fuel tank pressure sensor. Just skimming the post and comments, it seems likely. This can throw p0455 and p0456
