Decisions, decisions, decisions...

Hello All.
This is my first post here. I originally had a 2000 TL. Unfortunately, life happened and I had to get rid of it. Now, I have been searching for another. I thought that I would bring my options to this board, and see what you all thought.
1st Option: Black 2005 TL 6spd, with 112,500 miles, okay records, new timing belt, but an accident and two owners. The dash has some cracks, some surface paint scratches, etc, but otherwise, it needs nothing. Dealer is asking 12,900.
2nd Option: Grey 2006 TL, auto, with 76,000 miles, no accidents, one owner who is selling it, but a clueless one with no records. It will need tires, a large parking lot dent corrected, needs a tinting, etc. but nothing major. Asking 16,000.
I think I can get the 2006 down to 15000 and maybe the 2005 "out the door" at 12,500.
I want a 6spd, but So, what are everyone's thoughts, if any?

Neither. Keep looking. A dealer selling a "POS". A owner that seems to not give rats ass about his/her vehicle. Pass.

If you had to choose between the two, and you want a 6mt, then pick the 1st one. But had to agree with TheChamp531 to see looking. You may find something better.

Look in cars.com, autotrader.com and acuratrader.com

I appreciate the feedback. Why would you consider the 2005 a POS? The miles are high, but the price reflects that. It has scratches, etc., but nothing that I wouldn't expect on a six year old car. I am my own mechanic and I am not worried about regular maintenance, etc, which I think it has, but is there something that I don't know about these cars that would label it a POS? I too, have been thinking about waiting, but at that price, I thought it was a pretty good deal. And it's a great color combo....

And thanks for the acuratrader idea. I didn't know about that one!

Well, not that it matters if you all think it's a POS, but the dealer will do $12,500 out the door. Gonna have to sit back and think about this one as it would give me $2.5k to do other things to the car like rims or just to save....

What type of accident did the 05 have? Any repair records on the accident? Also, the dash having a few cracks- are you planning on having that replaced or keeping it cracked? A new dash is pretty pricey.

Accident was a right front impact, no air bags, accident info that I have is that the car ended up in a ditch. Was drivable. Repaired at Duval Acura according to Carfax and that's also were most of the records come from. They also took it in as a trade and had it on their lot for about six weeks before selling it to the dealer it's at now. I had the car up in the air and could see no frame or suspension damage. The wreck was four years ago. I don't plan on replacing the dash. I figured some type of plastic welding to repair/fill it.

Jovinki, neither sound like a good option. It's difficult to be patient with a car purchase, especially when you're set on getting a TL.

Check out Cars.com and see what they've got.

What price range are you going for? Do you care about interior color? Also, are you only looking locally or nationwide? There are plenty of cars out there in better condition with less miles for a decent price. If you're only looking for base models, then your options are limitless whereas my search for Type-S in a 6MT is very limited.

Trance,
I'm on a budget, which is why I am considering the higher mileage. Even so, there are only 18 6spd TL's with Navigation in the US at this point below 15 grand. Of the ten that are over 100K in miles, i.e. in my honest-to-myself price range, none have a better price, save the one with the salvage title.... I guess I have to weigh the positives, the negatives and the possibilities of something coming along that I can afford. I know cars, and I know this is a decent car. Do I want a '07 or '08 TL-S 6spd with Navi? Absolutely! Can I afford it? No. For, me $11,300 plus TTT seems like a good deal. I don't know, maybe I'm crazy, yeah, well, I'm crazy, and a shade tree mechanic so, maybe I'll get lucky, if I even decide to buy....

agreed with every1 above... There are good deals out there for higher mileage TL's that dont need any attention to the exterior or interior.
Im in jersey but a friend of a friend just picked up a grey 6spd with ebony interior, 119k for $11.5.

I agree with everyone else. You don't mention your current car situation, so we don't know how long you can wait or not. Have you checked your local CL or the Black Market here?

Keep looking. Here is one in PA. 107K, 6 Speed and looks to have had the 105K service done. There are better cars out there.
