lol.. search for the dash crack threads.. mine was about an inch long as well and is about a foot long as well. It's not covered by warranty since they consider the dash to be trim.
My theory for these dash cracks is due to temperature variance caused by the metal supports & screws that holster the dash, which is why they occur in the same spots for many 3G TL owners..

I have a dash waiting to install.. but I'm going to fix my current dash and wait for something to fix that requires dash removal before I replace the dash. If you have Acura replace it'll probably cost you close to $2k I'm guessing.. they might goodwill the part if you're persistent & professional, depends on the dealership & district mgr though.. There is talk of a class action lawsuit.. search the threads for the threads on this topic.
All this stuff about dashes cracking is ridicilous. Acura should be covering this out of pure embarassment to the brand. If I had something like that happen to me, I honestly don't think I could ever purchase another Acura product as long as I lived.

It's my thread about what I had to do about the cracks in my dashboard. Oh and it's about $2000 to fix. I didn't pay that because I went a different route.

Join in a effort to have Acura Recall this defective dash. we dont know yet, but a cracked dash at the airbag deployment point could be a safety hazard. We (nor Acura) cant wait until someone is permanently injured to act upon this already known issue.
There is also a really good thread on this issue.

You can lodge a complaint and/or request an investigation with the National Highway and Transportation Safety Administration (NHTSA). This is the agency that is responsible for automobile safety recalls.

You will have to go through the dealership first and have them take pictures, hear your story, etc. They take it to their repair manager who may take it to the Regional repair manager to see if there is anything Acura is willing to do to replace at anything less than full cost. You can log a case with Acura national office but they will require you to start this procedure with the dealership. Better to try to kill them with kindness than to get too upset. It takes patience. I have not gotten anywhere here in SW Florida yet but I'm being persistent. I'll try to keep everyone apprised of my progress or lack thereof.

they should replace it for free i think...because there is a lot of people out there with the problem....charging people 2gs for a dash replacement is just wrong!
Especially when Infiniti is covering issues with their dashes. But that is in another thread already.....

Hey guys,
I just purchased an 04 TL with some heavy mileage. My dash is intact at the moment, but what is the BEST route to prevent further damage? I have read about that X-303 spray in some other threads, should I apply that on a regular basis?

Revive dead thread much?
Ohh well atleast you searched!!
I heard dont use any cleaners on the dash... someone wrote something about it before maybe someone can chime in on it...
Also there is a DIY floating around where someone fixed their dash and it looked pretty decent from afar..
Also Acura installing a new dash is like 2k+

its going to crack if it wants to. Avoiding the sun and high heat are about all you can do.

Optimum Protectant is one of the best.
303 also makes a good product.
DO NOT USE STORE BOUGHT BRANDS LIKE ARMOR ALL.
Meguiars and Mothers are OK.
You want to have a CLEAN microfiber towel handy. A simple spray bottle with 75/25 diluted water & dawn twice a week. After cleaning, apply Optimum Protectant to the dash.
This has worked for me since I bought my car, and the dash still looks brand new.

It cracks when it dries out. treat it like skin. Moisturize frequently, use sunblock periodically (303 Aerospace). If you park outside often, get a sunshade.
Need help on my cracked dashboard

I bought my 2004 TL in 2007 Certified from Acura.. A year and a half later it cracks along the right side of the airbag seam splitting the dash long ways about a foot long crack. I was cool with the service guys and they replaced it, they installed a brand new dash free of charge. Now in June 2013 the dash that they installed cracked in the very same place... The first time around I used Armorall, then Lexol on it, they blamed it on that.. Now with the new dash I didnt put anything on it, still cracked!... Ridiculous that this doenst get recalled!.....
I believe we need to file a complaint to the Better Business Bureau. I already submitted my complaint for my cracked dashboard and now feel good that at least the ball is rolling. Now I just have to wait for their response.
The cracks are all located on the passenger side airbag section. Due to this issue, my airbag light occasionally turns on.
Let's get this issue resolved together so Acura can claim responsibility of poor quality and recall their dashboards. The process is VERY EASY! https://www.bbb.org/
I'll let you know what turns up!

BBB is on the side of the business, not the consumer. And they have no pull, especially with a big corporation, they'll drag out some mediation talk and will eventually close the case. Remember, they make their buck from the companies they accredit. You're definitely not the first to follow that path. Many here have even gone through their State AGs and there have been at least a couple of class action lawsuits. Basically Acura / Honda will prove that it doesn't detriment safety and you're out on your ass. Most you can hope to get out of it is some goodwill from ACS.
Honda isn't going to care about BBB like a local business might.
Owners have already tried filing complaints with NHTSA and there have been feelers put out for class actions in several states (Not sure if any of those are still going).

Highly unlikely that your light is related to the dash. More than likely is related to a buckle or a seat sensor. Have you had your codes pulled to see what is actually triggering the light?
