Average 6MT Oil Life

I searched but could not find a thread regarding the average oil life for the 6MT. My MID is displaying 60% and I only have 1598 miles on the car. Does this seem a little low to anyone? At this rate 3000 miles appears to be the actual oil life. The car is also getting horrendous gas mileage (I will admit my right foot is a bit heavy) but it is averaging 17 mpg for a combo city/highway with the majority being highway (almost always in 6th gear).

I think something may be up but wanted to get others input on this before taking it in.

As a side note the car is breaking in nicely and is really starting to open up. She feels much quicker now

<5% at 11040 on B which I just did

on my 6MT. If this helps you.

My 6MT has ~5400 miles with 30% life showing. I drive mostly in town with most trips being about 15 miles round trip. I will get on it hard at times but for the most part I drive pretty conservatively due to traffic (Hit 6th gear from 45 to 50 mph, rarely get over 3000 RPM). I average 25 MPG in town.

At 3200 miles my MID was 15% avg about 17-19mpg NYC driving & 22-23 Hyw/City Combo. Changed oil at that piont.
Now at 6800 miles my MID is 40% and city is running about 19-20mpg and a round trip from NYC to Florida (2500 miles) I averaged 29-32mpg. This is 6MT.
Oh and the Michelin Pilot Sports A/S is Much Much Much Much better then the EL42's !

From the responses is appears that this is not really an issue. It appears that the mid must take into account how the car is driven to determine when the oil needs changing (an assumption here) Is it looking for particulate matter in the oil?

My understanding is that it is running an algorithm that takes into account various engine operating parameters such as RPM, duration, etc. to come up with the MID reading. I do not believe that it is doing any type of physical measurement of the oil or particulates. Hence, the MID would give the same result regardless of the type of oil and filter you are using.
