This or That?

Quick FYI...

2007 Type S 5AT, currently with 204,011. Daily driver. I am going to have the whole timing belt/water pump work done again in June. Using the Aisin TKH-002.

I DO have a valve cover gasket leak that I wanna have taken care of at the same time. So my question is...do I go with -

https://www.oemacuraparts.com/oem-pa...er-12341rcaa01

or

https://www.oemacuraparts.com/oem-pa...Y2LWdhcw%3D%3D

I would replace the spark plugs seals alongside the Vc gasket so I would go 2nd set.

You might as well get a valve adjustment if you're going to do the valve covers. I use the Fel-Pro gaskets, because the OEM are $83 to do both valve covers.

the 2nd part you provided is a set with spark plug tube seal as well. I would replace the spark plug seal as well, don't forget to pick a fresh set of screw and rubber grommets that hold your valve cover as well.

As me how i know lol.

Yea...um. I'm not really worried about the $ aspect. I mean it's $83 bud...

Ok I gotta ask then. Can't use the old ones? I can't fathom finding the part numbers for those...I'll be getting the https://www.oemacuraparts.com/oem-pa...Y2LWdhcw%3D%3D but you suggest more?

#14 and #15 is what you need, you can reuse the old one however the rubber grommet are prone to leak oil. Plus the screw are very brittle especially on the front bank where they subject to constant expansion and contraction do to the a/c fan/ radiator fan blowing on them.

You will break couple even torque to factory spec. I snapped 2 on my red one and hell with it that I am lucky that I bought entire new set, from then on I never reuse the old one.

I guess my question is don't bolts A and B already come with part 90442-P8A-A00, certaily looks as so. And the quatity says 10, same total as bolt A and B.

Do those bolts come with the grommets pre-installed? I'm looking at going in to re-do the tube seals because the shop that did it just jammed them on and fucked it up.

When purchasing these grommets, they do not come pre-installed. You'll have to cut off the old ones and pop the new ones on.

Are we sure on that 100%, because this certainly looks as if the bolt comes with the grommet. #15 in the diagram...I'm talking about https://www.acurapartswarehouse.com/...206MT&filter=()

Took a little nap this late afternoon (getting up at 3:05am M-F will cause that) and wanted to share something, thanks again to @truonghthe by the way,

So I will be doing the whole valve cover gaskets replacement.https://www.oemacuraparts.com/oem-pa...er-12030ryea01

And replacing all the bolts as well.

Bolts needed are the following -

https://www.oemacuraparts.com/oem-pa...er-90012p8aa00 x 2

and

https://www.oemacuraparts.com/oem-pa...er-90010p8aa00 x 8

The reason why I am kinda posting this is in case anyone wants to use the original bolts BUT change out the rubber grommets. Both of the new bolts come with the new grommets on.

The grommet itself https://www.oemacuraparts.com/oem-pa...er-90442p8aa00

So in my opinion if you're needing or wanting to do this, just buy the new entire bolt vs having to mess with getting the new grommet on. It's like $4 more per bolt, and just way less of a hassle.

Again though, my opinion...

Finally got around to getting everything for the daily driver, can't spend all the money on the 6MT garage queen, gotta show some love to the daily!

From www.oemacuraparts.com

Gasket, Throttle Body 16176rcaa02 x1 $1.71
Gasket Set, Head Cover 12030ryea01 x2 $86.66
Bolt B, Head Cover 90012p8aa00 x2 $17.48
Bolt A, Head Cover 90010p8aa00 x8 $81.12
Gasket, In Manifold Cover (Upper) 17146r70a01 x1 $27.30

Subtotal
$214.27
Shipping (Expedited) It was odd, regular ground was $20.33 so I went expedited $20.82
Handling $4.00
Order Total $239.09

From www.rockauto.com

NGK 6994 Spark Plug $ 9.31 x6 $ 55.86
Discount $ -2.79
Shipping Ground $ 10.99
Tax $ 3.67
Order Total $ 67.73

BANDO 6PK2135 Belt $ 14.15 x1 $ 14.15

AISIN TKH002 (TKH-002) Timing Belt, Water Pump & Component Kit $ 193.79 x1 $ 193.79
Discount $ -10.40
Shipping Ground $ 22.98
Tax $ 12.62
Order Total $ 233.14

Just in case anyone is going to be doing something similar. Turned out I probably shouldn't have bought the valve cover "kit" and just bought the 2 gaskets and 6 seals. I don't really need the 10 grommets since I bought the 10 bolts new as well that already have the grommets...oh well I have 10 extra now. But there is a cost break down and some part numbers if anyone wants the info. I'm sure I missed buying something...
